HEAT EXCHANGER - INTRODUCTION

A heat exchanger is a device built for efficient heat transfer from one medium to another, whether the media are separated by a solid wall so that they never mix, or the media are in direct contact

WORKING 1> Entry of Both the fluids in H.E. 2> Extraction of Heat from hot fluid to cold fluid. 3> Rise in Temp. of cold fluid & fall in temp. of hot fluid 4> Both fluids exit from their respective outlets

MAINTENANCE Due to presence of impurities in the fluids

certain depositions occur inside the tubes of the heat exchanger which is known as FOULING . This reduces the heat transfer between the fluids and hence the efficiency.

For removing these scales the heat exchangers are cleaned periodically
