Miss Davies

L.O – I can identify, visualise and describe 2D shapes.

Success Criteria

Know the correct names for common 2D shapes

Work on your own and with a partner to describe, visualise and identify 2D shapes

Use clear and specific maths vocabulary to talk about the properties of 2D shapes

Begin to use the properties of shapes to classify/sort

How many different shapes can you see?

What do you already know

about 2D shapes?

Can you guess what shape I am?What can you see?

Can you guess what shape I am now? What can you see?

Have you changed your mind?

I am a pentagon!

mind?

I’m a right-angled triangle!

Your task:In your pairs, call yourself partner A and partner B.

Partner A takes a shape from the envelope. Look at it carefully, but don’t let your partner see it!

Partner B must ask you questions to try and find out what shape it is.

Partner A can only answer the questions by saying “yes” or “no”.

You are only allowed to ask up to 5 questions per shape!

REMEMBER…Think about the properties of 2D shapes.

Use specific maths vocabulary (this will help you find out more quickly what the shape is!)

To use the correct name of the shape – or you don’t win!

What have you learned today?

I got it!

I am still a bit unsure.

I didn’t understand.
