The war of succession for the throne of Jaipur was fought between Swai Ishwari Singh , the eldest son of Maharaja Swai Jai Singh II, the founder of Jaipur city and his second son Swai Madho Singh I in 1749 AD in which Swai Ishwari Singh won the battle and to commemorate this victory this victory pillar was built. This pillar is 140 feet high, seven storied and octagonal in shape and is situated in the centre of Jaipur city.
