DECATUR PUBLIC SCHOOLS

The Need

Physical Needs Summary• Many building systems are at the end of their useful lives

(piping, windows, doors, heating/cooling equipment).

• Many components of the building envelope are beyond their useful life, particularly at EHS.

• Many interior finishes are worn and should be replaced (there are some hazardous materials consequences).

• There are opportunities for increased energy savings.

• Most spaces lack air conditioning.

• In addition to addressing these physical needs is the need to alter spaces to accommodate changing educational programs.
