As early as 1932, the Lodges working in the Rizal Province, numbering only three(3) at that time, began meeting as a group in annual reunion of the members although the lodges were not considered as a Masonic District. Shortly after the end of World war II in 1945, with the expansion of the Grand Jurisdiction by the increase in numbers of Lodges, and with the difficulty of travel by the increasing numbers of Lodges, the need for the subdivision of the entire Jurisdiction into Masonic Districts for purpose of better administration and control wa keenly felt. Consequently during the annual communication of the Grand Lodge in January 1952, then Grand master Cenon S. Cervantes, recommended the division of the Grand jurisdiction into seven(7) districts to be headed by a Deputy appointed by the Grand Master and with proposed designation of “Grand Master’s Deputy”.
As recommended by GM Cervantes, the proposed Districts were designed by Region rather than by numbers, with all the Lodges in a particular Region comprising the District, thus Northern Luzon District was composed of the Lodges situated in the various Provinces of Northern Luzon, etc. This proposal was approved and thus began the division of the Jurisdiction into District units. The Lodges working in Rizal Province and those located in what is now known as Metro manila did not fail under any specific district as those Lodges were then directly administered by the Grand Lodge. During the succeeding years 1953 to 1958, the subdivision of the Grand Jurisdiction was continued, with appropriate ammendment to our masonic Law Book were approved by the Grand Lodge, providing for the specific functions and duties of the Grand Master’s Deputies.
It was during the Annual communication of 1958 presided by MW Vicente Orosa that the designation of the Grand Master’s Deputy was changed to “District Deputy Grand Master” with the title “Very Worshipful”.
In 1959, MW Howard Hick as Grand Master, he introduced a change in the subdivision of the Grand Jurisdiction by districts, from regions to apecific numbered districts. Thus in 1959, the Grand Jurisdiction of the Philippines was divided for the first time into numbered districts totaling twenty two (22) districts. District NO. 9 was composed of the Lodges working in the Province of Rizal and those in Quezon City, then numbering seven(7) lodges.
The Grand Lodge during the Annual Communication of 1983, approved the position of District Grand Lecturers for each Masonic District with the title of “Very Worshipful”.
In 1989, when the Lodges in Masonic District No. 9 grew to 15 Lodges, VW Raul A. Laman, then Master of Jacobo Zobel Y Zangroniz Memorial Lodge No. 202, presented a Resolution dividing Masonic District No. 9 into two(2) Districts. On April 29, 1989 MW Juan C. Nabong, the Grand Master, issued Edict No. 79-Structuring and Dividing the Jurisdictional Governance of Masonic District No. 9 into separate Districts designating them District 9-A and District 9-B, composed of: Muog Lodge No. 89 King Solomon Lodge No. 150 Jacobo Zobel Y Zangroniz Mem Lodge No. 202 Pagkakaisa Lodge No. 282 Kagitingan Lodge No. 286
On April 7, 1994, the MW Rizal D. Aportadera issued Edict No. 16, whereby Batong Buhay Lodge No. 27 was excluded from Masonic District No. 1-B, later known to be Masonic District 13. In the succeeding years saw the birth of the new Lodges namely: GEN.
