History
This project was launched in 1995 for the Department of Energy and the National Power Corporation during the height of the energy crisis in the Philippines.
The objective was to gather under one roof the major international energy players to introduce them to the Philippine market and the relevant government agencies and private counterparts.
Since then, POWERTRENDS has been a regular event supported by the Department of Energy and all the relevant industry agencies and industry associations.

Incorporated with Powertrends are 2 other major events: Energy Expo and
Electech/Lightech.

management
Energy Expo focuses on renewable energy, natural gas/LNG, energy efficiency
and alternative energies
Electech/Lightech focuses on electrical technologies and lighting
Previously a biennial event, Powertrends goes annual in 2016
a) to provide the platform for the newly-elected Government this year to
present its direction for the development of the industry;
b) to respond to the escalating energy demand;
c) to face the challenge of cutting down carbon emission in response to the
commitment of our leaders during the Paris conference last year
Powertrends is attended by every company, individual or anyone involved in
energy in anyway, either as exhibitor, conference delegate or visitor to the
exhibition. The event is also attended by financiers, investors and businessmen.
For the Industry, the event serves as welcome to the new Government and
introduction to the energy family. The agenda for the conference touches on
global and local concerns of the sector.
For technology suppliers, this is a fitting opportunity to show their capabilities.
For financiers/investors, businessmen, this is a great occasion for exploring
opportunities
The high-level business forum is a government-private sector interaction
to provide inputs for policy-making for the sector
