WELCOME TO IIBM PATNA
Dear Participants
We look forward to meet you at Patna, the
capital of Bihar and one of the most ancient city of
the world-where wealth and wisdom both
established its presence throughout the ages. Here
kingdom after kingdom rose and fell leaving their
indelible mark on history. The same Patliputra saw
the birth and maturity of some of the most gentle
and progressive relegious leaders like Budha,
Mahavira and Guru Govind Singh. This imperial city
is witness to the glory of The Great Samrat Ashoka
and Ajatshatru along with The Great Chandragupt
and Guru Chanakya.
Patna the imperial city is a very fertile arched
stretch of land along the bank of the Ganga. The
history and heritage of modern day Patna go back
well over two millennia. Like Delhi, Patna too had
been the royal seat of governance for successive
kingdoms since ancient times. And to this day, it is
the capital city of the state.
As each ruler ascended in power and
established dynastic glory, he gave his capital a new
name. Thus the ancient Kusumpura meta-
morphosed through Pushpapura, Pataliputra,
Azeemabad and now into Patna, a continuous
history ranging from 6th century BC to present
time- a record claimed by few cities in the world.
It was Ajatshatru, the Magadha king who first
built a small fort in Pataligram on the bank of the
Ganges in 6th century BC, which later blossomed
into the ancient glory still to be seen in the
neighbouring archaeological sites at Kumrahar,
Bhiknapahari, Agamkuan, Bulandi Bagh and
Kankarbagh. Pataliputra dominated the
political fortunes of the whole of North
India between 6th century B. C. and 5th
century AD, a fact established by
archaeological excavations. After a
temporary eclipse, in 16th century
Sher Shah Suri returned the city its
former glory and established the
present Patna. After the decline of the Mughals, the
British too found Patna a convenient regional
capital and built a modern extension to this ancient
city and called it Bankipore. It was in Gandhi Maidan
in this area that Mahatma Gandhi held his prayer
meetings.
The Institute precinct is conveniently situated
on Budha Marg, opposite to Patna Museum. To the
south of IIBM lies the city's commercial and
shopping centre, one of the biggest indoor
shopping centre in Patna-Maurya Complex. To the
north, pious Ganges flows since immemorial.
Connecting the Budh Marg and Fraser Road from
West to East, North of the Institute lies the biggest
library of the state-The Sinha Library. Presently
Patna is linked with all the important cities and
places of the country through Rail, Road and
Airlines. Persons coming from out-side to stay will
be getting the necessary facilities. Students should
seek advice and cooperation from the Dean
(Student Welfare) who is available at his official
chamber as well as at his residence, to help, guide
students. They will be provided with all support and
cooperation, be physical, academic, economic or
other-wise during their stay at Patna. The most
important pleasure for you at IIBM would be the
special care, affectionate love and feeling of
oneness by all the people in and around the campus
- which one may not get elsewhere.

ORIGIN
OBJECTIVES
Indian Institute of Business Management Patna has been established in the year 1979 with the help of prominent academicians, social workers, philosophers, planners and administrators, management thinkers, industrialists as an autonomous, non-profit making all India institute for training, research and studies in the areas of management, computer sciences, hotel & hospitality management, e-business, e-governance and rural development. The activities of the institute include training, research, publications, conference organisation, consultancy and organisation of specialised technical and academic pogrammes besides organisation and implementation of programmes having a positive, social, educational, cultural and economic content in order to ensure the optimum development of Indian societies in general and youths in particular.Since it's inception, the institute responds to the educational needs of the society through continuous investigation of what those needs are as well as what they are likely to become. In responding to those needs, the institute prepares and develops both teachers and scholars who appreciate the real world of schools, students and communities. The object, content, structure and methods of different educational systems involve a variety of abilities and attitudes with the content of growth to bring reflective dimensions in their work. The emphasis is on building bridges from theory and research to practice and service.
The Institute firmly believes in the dignity of human beings at work and their relationship within the enterprise. Keeping this in mind, IIBM is striving hard to achieve the objectives viz. :
To provide basic analytical tool-kit for management, including fundamental concepts and principles from the various management disciplines (HR, Marketing, Finance, Production, Materials, Agriculture, Health-Care, Export, Computers, Rural Development and Hotel Management and an understanding of the major institutions in the business and corporate sector.To develop skills in using these tools in an imaginative, orderly, problem solving capacity by first identifying what the problems are, then analysing alternative solutions, and finally, implementing the chosen solution.To advance ability to make and carry out rational decisions.To develop a basis for dealing effectively with others, in person and in writing to bring efficiency and more productivity.To encourage continued learning from experience, habitual receptiveness to new ideas and new ways of dealing with problems.To install a thorough understanding of the overall economic, political and social environment which the trainees, as a manager, will live and work.To serve as a forum for exchange of ideas and experiences and collection and dissemination of information on management in general and marketing, finance, industrial relations, human resources, social welfare, retail, CRM, international business, in particular.To sponsor, promote, encourage, conduct and contribute to the study and research and to impart instructions in any subject touching any or all aspects of management and computer sciences, including their sociological, political and economic background and context.

The first proposition that we can not be sure of much about in 21st
century, means that we must emphasise education not mere training
for what to do and how to do. It can be learnt as the years go by, as the
environment for management evolves and as the specific
circumstances of each individual manager's resposibilities take shape.
These things can be learnt, much better if the manager's education has
prepared him deliberately for life-long learning from experience then if
it has trained him for the world he encounters and the job he takes upon
after leaving the institute.
Specifically, management education should be strong in
economics not just the economics of the organisation but the
economics of the economy, including business history. Management
education should be strong in political science and the actual working of
politics, politicians, propaganda and public opinion and even some
political history. It should be strong in law and jurisprudence including
the actual working of lawyers, legislators and courts. It should be strong
in quantitative methods, including mathematics, statistics and
computers. It should convey some comprehension of science and
technology including not only physicial but also biological science. The
requirements are preposterous if viewed in the light of the standard
two-three years available to the participants of the management
programme and of the fact that there must be room also for the
distinctive core of management education for production, marketing,
personnel and finance etc.
The need for management must be expressed in terms of people
with the highest sense of standards and values for the advancement of
our human society. In understanding the basis for the gap between
many young people and world of business as they see it, one is struck by
the way in which the production of wealth & material base for human
advancement is considered by many of them completely separate from
the creation of values. Any discussion of business suffers from
appearing to emphasis only for the economic factor. In the increasingly
interdependent world, the relationship between material advantage
and high values must be more clearly understood. It seems apparent to
many businessmen that one can not develop a high sense of values
without an adequate economic base. If we are to nourish a better this
great century, the creation of values and the creation of wealth, the
sense of service that best describes main purpose, must be understood
and communicated to our young people.
The Institute has a continuous history of providing quality
education at Post Graduate level in management and related subjects.
The broad objective of the institute has been to provide young men and
women interested in a management career with opportunities to
acquire knowledge, develop skills and foster attitudes essential for their
growth capable of assuming leadership in the management profession.
The Institute in addition to providing the students with the knowledge
and skills required for a successful management career enables them to
understand the values and spirits that characterize modern societies.
The students are also provided the necessary, insights to perceive areas
where changes are required and where improvement in performance is

1. The Indian Institute of Business Management is
registered under Indian Societies Registration
Act of 1860 as a non-profit 'making, cultural,
social, educational and technical society.
2. The institute is exempted from Income Tax
under sections of Indian Income Tax Act.
3. The Institute is recognized by All India Council
for Technical Education (AICTE), Ministry of
HRD, Govt of India since 1994 as equivalent to
MBA degree.
4. The Institute has been recognised by Deptt. of
HRD, Government of Bihar.
5. The Deptt. of Labour Resources, Govt. of Bihar
has recognised the PG Diploma in Mgt. is
equivalent to MA (LSW Degree) for the purpose
of recruitment under factory welfare officers
rules & regulations.

Science & Technology, Government of Bihar.

The Institute's library contains a selected collection of over 2.5 lakh books and reference materials. The Institute also subscribes more than 150 periodicals for the benefit of the participants, faculty and researchers. The information regarding big projects of the public as well as private sector organisations are arranged with unlimited access by the participants. The services of the library also include assisting the students in providing reference and bibliographical service.The documentation centre acts as change agent in helping the participants in finding suitable reference in the areas of management, rural development, behavioural science, computers, administration and development with books, periodicals, research publications, reference documents and other relevant materials.Apart from its own information resources in form of books, periodicals, newspapers, journals, occasional monographs, books, annual reports, data books, research projects, encyclopaedias and magazines, the institute has signed an agreement with Dr. Zakir Husain Institute, Patna to allow the free use of their most modern and vast library by the students and faculty members of IIBM. IIBM documentation centre is engaged in regular acquisition, collection, information generation and reproduction of the relevant information sources to bring out data books, hand-books, data-sheets, indexes, current awareness bulletin etc. for the benefit of the students & faculty members.

The IIBM Patna is credited to establish the first Computer & IT laboratory in the state in 1980 with installation of HCL-1600 & Level-2 computer systems, for the first time in any educational institute in the undivided Bihar. The computer centre was inaugurated by then Chief Minister of Bihar Dr. Jagannath Mishra on September 14, 1980 and attended by Dr. U.P.Verma, Minister for lrrigation, Sri Raghunath Jha, Minister for Education, Sri R. Singh, Minister for Rural Development and Sri S. S. S. Dheeraj, Minister for Science & Technology, Govt. of Bihar. The second installation of computer systems HCL Workhorse was inaugurated by Sri L. P. Sahi, Minister for Science & Technology on December 6, 1983. In the meanwhile Govt. of India, Deptt. of Electronics, funded the institute to own India's first bilingual Computer system DCM Siddhartha and then Chief Minister of Bihar Sri Chandra Shekhar Singh, inaugurated the Hindi Computer Lab on 18 July, 1984. Sri Vishwamohan Sharma, Minister for Industries, Government of Bihar, inaugurated the modern computer Lab with 25 –IBM-PCs in the year 1986.
Presently, the computer centre is equipped with most, sophisticated computer systems to execute several useful software development projects. The institute was recognised as the modern centre for the study, training & research at Post Graduate level by Govt. of India and subsequently several hundred computers were installed at the computer centre of the institute. With the establishment of Software Technology Park, Internet Service Centre, Global Internet Connectivity Centre and Networking Lab., presently the institute has world class State of the Art IT Lab for Computing and IT Applications, consisting of the hardware & software facilities with multi-media and multi-operating system environment.
The CIMDT was inaugurated by then Chairman, Electronics Commission. Dr.M.S.Sanjivee Rao on September 7, 1984 as a national resource centre for the development of appropriate instructional materials, publication of books on computers in different languages & preparation of video films, computer oriented short term training materials for teachers and users.
The ITAP has been launched in March 1985 with assistance from the Department of Electronics, Government of India. This aims at launching a number of programmes to enable the society to drive benefits of the information technology IIBM Patna has initiated various activities such as dissemination of information about the latest developments in the areas of information technology and its social applications through radio, television, seminars, appreciation programmes, film-shows, workshops, conferences etc. These programmes have specifically been designed for children and rural communities in Hindi and other Indian languages.
The Ministry of Information Technology has funded the ZHI-IIBM to initiate research projects for computer aided non-formal education for the benefit of rural & un-organised population by devising ways and means to educate and train the beneficiary groups, most effectively and efficiently. In past, the institute successfully completed the computerised evaluation and monitoring of 1.25 lakh adult and non-formal education centres operating in the state of Bihar.

IIBM Software Technology Park has been established by the institute with assistance from The Ministry of Communications and IT, Government of India at Patna to cater to the needs of software industry and to act as a single window solution provider for industries in information technology. The institute has developed infra-structural facilities including High Speed Data Communication (HSDC) connectivity required by IT industry. Software Technology Park is 100% export oriented scheme for the development and export of computer software using data communication links or in the form of physical media including export of professional services.
The Software Technology Park (IIBM Software Export Division) has been set up under the licence of Software Technology Park of India (STPI) at Patna to promote the 100% export oriented software development and quality training in information technology related areas on 17th June 1999 on World Communication Day. This long dream of creating STP unit at Patna become true due to the enormous efforts great support and encouragement from Sri Manas Patnaik, Director, Software Technology Park of India (STPI) - Bhubneswar. The STP unit has been established with commitment to technology for building expertise in object oriented technologies, providing consultancy in internet and allied disciplines, pursuing object wrapper for tapping new business, developing internet based tools and promoting expertise in distributed computing environment.
Hon'ble Union Minster of State for Communication & IT, Govt. of India Dr. Shakeel Ahmad inaugurated the above broadcasting services on 16th March, 2005 at Patna in the august presence of Mr. M. S. Kantha, Senior Vice President, Cavis Communication with much funfare. Hon'ble Union Minister highly appreciated the establishment of this edutainment and useful mass media centre with easy access to the masses with objectives of supporting the developmental cause of the common people, particularly the disadvantaged lot. In his inaugural address, Dr. Ahmad hoped that the most modern satellite based ICT enabled educational services provided an effective response to the challenge of quantity and quality offering wide range of delivery modes viz. Radio and TV Broadcast, video conferencing, web based instruction targeting schools, higher and professional educational centres and science & technology related agencies for all multi-cultural work force. The minister highly praised this educational initiative and suggested for effective involvement of similar stakeholders, software developers and broadcasters, instructional designers and educational technologists, media specialists, content specialists, policy makers and planners at the government and institutional level to ensure productive and successful delivery of information.

The objective of this course is to prepare the participants in developing, entrepreneurial leadership as well as managerial competence in their respective fields. The Two Years Management Programme offers a comprehensive education in management as well as the opportunity to develop competence in a particular area of interest. The confidence developed by ability to perform well in an organisation may be based on expertise geared to the special needs of an area in depth understanding of a particular functional area, such as finance, information systems or operations management.The management course will provide the main organizational, administrative and decision making skills needed to facilitate change and provide leadership in a range of organizational environment within the global business environment. In the first and second years of the management course the emphasis is on administrative, management, and there is the opportunity for specialization in a number of management disciplines e.g. Finance, Marketing, Human Resources or International Marketing to name but a few. Students of the management course also have the opportunity to study foreign language, as part fo their course.The programme in management provides students the opportunity for specialized education in a specific management discipline built upon a core of business courses. Viewing the role of computers and Information Technology in various walks of life such as education, research, space, atomic energy, business and indsutry, aeronautics, industrial process control, transport, communications, science and technology, biomedicals, defence, IIBM Patna has established it's School of Computing in the year of 1980. The school introduced the first course in Computer Sciences in April, 1980. It was the first course of its type in the state of undivided of Bihar. In July, 1980, the fourth generation computer systems HCL-1600 and HCL- Level II was installed in the Institute and inaugurated by then Hon'ble Chief Minister, Dr. Jagannath Mishra on September 14, 1980.
IIBM, Patna is the first institution in the state of undivided Bihar to have introduced the Post Graduate Diploma in Computer Applications from July 1984, sponsored by Ministry of Electronics, Govt. of India, with financial assistance to the tune of rupees 4 lacs. (India's first Multi lingual computing and word processing system siddharth has been installed in the institute in the year 1983)
The school at present has the administrative control of Centre for Computing Techniques and Informatics, Centre for Instructional Materials Development and Training as well as Information Technology Awareness Programmes duly financed and funded by Govt. of India.
The principal aim of the school include preparation for change particularly in computer applications. This is achieved by first providing the students with the skills and techniques of programming and data processing using the modern computers and IT systems. Subsequently, students develop their talents and academic interests from a range of theme that included vocational aspects of commercial and scientific data processing.
Through its curriculum and faculty research the future oriented programmes of the school of computing seek to anticipate the role of computer professionals twenty or thirty years into the future and to expose the students to the thought processes necessary to fulfil these roles in a rapidly changing environment. This is markebly different from traditional computer education which stresses training for a particular career and the development of specialised skills. Since the year 1983 the school provided computer and IT education and training programmes in the emerging fields and subjects to more than ten thousand students. The school conducts BCA, BSc.IT, MCA, MSc.IT and PGDCA programmes in academic collaboration with Indira Gandhi National Open University, New Delhi and MCRP University, Bhopal.
The passed out students are working with several government and private sector departments and corporate enterprises at various positions. IIBM computer centre is the first IT education and training institute of the undivided State of Bihar including Jharkhand.

SUMMER PLACEMENT
FINAL PLACEMENT
Summer placement is an integral part of the different programmes of the institute and the placement office assists the participants in finding a suitable summer assignment. This experience provides the student with an opportunity to improve his understanding of management problems in actual work situations. The evaluation report prepared by employing organisations provide the useful feed-back regarding the strength and weakness of the student. This feedback is of great value both to the faculty and the student in remedying the shortcomings on the part of the student and developing an understanding of the potentials in the student which can be tapped. The student is required to work on a summer assignment in an organisation for about 2-3 months between the first and second year. The assignment starts by middle of may and ends at middle of July so that student can return to the campus by the third week of July for the new academic year. Towards the end of the assignment, the student has to submit a report to the institute and the employer. This report in the organisation form the basis on which the employer evaluates the student's performance and the institute evaluates the same for the 'project report'.
While a few students enter the institute' programmes knowing exactly where their careers will lead them, many more come with general goals in mind. Most students develop new objectives through exposure to the curriculum, faculty, other students and the wide range of formal and informal placement activities at the Institutes. For nearly everyone, time spent at IIBM is an intense period of self-assessment, goal formulation and consideration of specific jobs. The placement office is a major resource person for each of these process. The placement officer strives hard through out the year to communicate with the corporate employers to request them to visit the institute campus, as and when possible to screen the outgoing final semester participants for final placement. By virtue of institute's expertise and experience to produce suitable candidates, the corporate employing enterprises from public and private sectors are always keen to visit the campus for selection and recruitment. Since its inception in the year 1979 the institute has taught and trained more than 12-thousand students and all of them are placed at suitable positions in various industries and service organisations in India and abroad. As such, this is almost difficult to publish the recruitment data of the students in the information bulletin. However, an illustrative list of few prominent industries and enterprises are mentioned below for reference and information. We are proud enough to announce that none of our students are still unemployed or under-employed. To the best of available data of our successful candidates, about two thousand plus students are working in foreign countries like USA, UK, Canada, Australia and many of the gulf countries. We are proud of our students who have established their own industries and service organisations and opted to become job giver to job seeker. The institute, from the very beginning discusses intimately with the new entrants regarding their aptitudes and options for future professions and specific careers and accordingly provides teaching and training to help them achieve their career goals and ambitions.

CAREER COUNSELING & WELFARECareer and vocational guidance is undertaken by the counselors at the Institute. A well stocked career and information Library in the Institute include reference materials describing opportunities in higher education in professional and commercial areas, information concerning employment opening in India and abroad. The staff are available for c o u n s e l i n g o n a n y p e r s o n a l , e m o t i o n a l , psychological or welfare matters which a student may have with a counselor in relationship of acceptance where strict confidentiality is observed.

In order to discuss rural development measures in the third world and consider the progress in science and technology for the modernisation of the rural communities, the Centre for Rural Development and Appropriate Technology (CRDAT) was established in January, 1980 at the Institute. There is no doubt that in the past, many economic and social development programmes and projects from these countries have sought to develop and improve the rural population and the economy. The rural development strategies that have been used by many of these countries have been very diverse and much of the diversity has stemmed from the particular economic, social, political and physical environment of each country. So, attempts towards changes of rural areas have been going on for several years and under various names in the developing countries including India. The success attained may vary from country to country, but none of these countries claim to have achieved their desired objectives. It is in this context that IIBM considers that technical cooperation among developing countries, which has as its objectives the fostering of self reliance among them through the enhancement of their creative capacity to find solutions to their development problems in keeping with their own aspirations, values and special needs would make a significant contribution in the management of rural development.The institute firmly believes in people's participation in all fields of activities aiming at optimum utilization and development of available physical, intellectual resources successfully and effectively. The following however, is an illustrative list of some of the activities in which participation of the people is critical for success and will be pursued by the centre with earnestness.A. National Rural Employment Programme, Minimum Needs Programme, Integrated Rural Development Programme, Integrated Child Development Programme, 20-Point Economic Programmes.

The Institute is determined to propagate and promote a form of industrialisation which can generate economic viability to achieve a faster rate of growth. The council proposes to set up first industrial complex of ten rural industries in its campus to train small rural & urban entrepreneurs to make them understand the methods and strategies of industry and trade. The council accepts the findings of research on rural industrialisation that, it is a pre-condition to agricultural development. The units of production have been carefully selected, with a view to use local resources, needs and requirements of local people with priority on agricultural implements, building materials, clothes, educational aids, entertainment goods etc. The council shall provide all consultancy support to entrepreneurs in developing such small-rural industries complexes to generate additional income by self employment units.1. COURSE STRUCTURE
Family owned and run business in India or other countries are very common fact and phenomenon. Almost more than 90% business enterprises in India are family owned and managed. Indian business houses enjoy various advantages due to long prevailing ownership scenerio in India but have certain challenges, too. A family business is a commercial organisation in which decision making is influents by multiple generations of family related by blood relationship or marriage. Family business is the oldest and most common model of economic enterprises. The vast mejority of business through out the world from corner shop to multinationals can be considered family business. Some of the world's largest family run business are Wallmart, Samsung, Tata, Birla, Bajaj, Foxcorn and Ambani. Family owned business accounts for over 30% of companies with sales over one billion dollar.
Viewing the importance of family managed business in the economy there is urgent need to manage these enterprises most effectively and efficiently to meet the challenges and problems facing the business. Thus, the IIBM Patna has initiated 1 year Post Graduate Programme in family business management in academic collaboration with Indian University duly recognising by UGC, Minister of HRD, Govt. of India under distance education mode, comprising content, curriculum and course materials beneficial for the participants to learn the Art and Science of productive management.
The basic objective of PG Programme in family business management is to equip the participants with management concepts and techniques to meet the challenges of business growth and survival in present complex and fast changing economy with modern emerging technological innovations. The programme provides basic analytical tool kit for management, including fundamental principles from various management disciplines viz. HR, Marketing, Finance, Productions Operations Management, International Business, Computers and IT and an understanding of the major institutions in business and corporate sector.
Thus, the programme inculcate in the family members the attributes of continuing learning to develop necessary skills in using these tools in an imaginative, orderly, problem solving capacity by first identifying what the problems are, then analysing alternative solution and finally the implementation of the solutions in the larger interest of the business enterprises. The PG programme aims to develop a keen business interest amongst the participants in the external world beyond the family and fast developing business economy. This specific programme will encourage continued learning from experience, habitual receptiveness to new ideas and new ways of dealing with problems and also installed a thorough understanding of the overall economic, political and social environment which the trainees as a manager will live and work. The members of the family managed business will be in position to put their earned knowledge into action and help grow, survive their business, most successfully.

The Institute of Hotel Management and Catering Technology, Patna was established in July, 1979 as an autonomous non-profit making, all India institute for research and training Institute in the areas of Hotel & Hospitality Management, Tourism & Travel Management and Allied areas. The Institute has been set-up by Indian Institute of Business Management Society as an independent and autonomous institution and was duly recognised by All India Council for Technical Education, Ministry of HRD, Govt. of India, New Delhi for the first time in the state of Bihar. The IHMCT-Patna has been established with an objective to provide a basic analytical tool kit for hotel management, including fundamental concepts and principles from the various management disciplines-personnel, marketing, finance, production, materials, food-science, health care & nutrition, computers and tourism. The Institute of Hotel Management & Catering Technology after its formation has been able to provide uniformity and standardisation by introducing advanced course content in the Diploma & Post Graduate & Post Diploma Programmes to suit the requirements of the technological advancements in the hotel & tourism industry. The revised common curricula has been developed on the basis of recomendations of UNDP/ILO experts. In all the educational programmes of the institute, faculty and students are involved in planning and presentation of various trade oriented applications and exercises. The objective for marriage of theory and practice, prepares the students for greater responsibilities and an enriched career. Keeping in view of the growing need for trained professionals to manage the tourism & hotel industries, the institute introduced the various specialisations in tourism & travel management, hotel & hospitality areas from 1980 session. Presently, the Institute is conducting the advanced theoretical & practical training programmes in Hotel Management, Catering Technology & Tourism & Travel Management leading to Diploma, Post Diploma and Bachelors Degree in the above mentioned areas.The creditability of this institute has opened wide opportunities for the students trained by IHMCT every where. We receive number of requisitions for our degree/ diploma holders by hospitality establishments in the country but due to the fixed number of admissions in the institute, it becomes impossible to fulfill their
demands for trained hotel management personnels in most of the cases. Given the size and rapid growth of the hospitality sector in India, we feel that this is an opportune time for those who want to make a career in this sector to equip themself with the necessary skills, knowledge and an internationally recognised qualifications in hospitality sector.The students of our institute from hotel management department are working in all segment of the hospitality field and related servicing industries. The centre for Open and Distance Learning was established in the year of 1983 to provide non-formal and continuing education to the Indian Army Personnel sponsored by Directorate General of Rehabilitation and Settlement, Ministry of Defence, Govt. of India. The centre organised several batches of of 2 years Post Graduated Diploma in Management (PGDM) for Difence Personnel and sort terms certificate programmes in various specialised areas of management in information technology. Later on the centre iniciated the education and training operation for working managers and executives of government and corporate sectors in academic collabration with UGC, Ministry of HRD, Govt. of India recognised university like Indira Gandhi National Open University, New Delhi, Karnataka Open University, Mysore, BRBA Bihar University, Muzaffarpur and The Global Open University, Nagaland.
The centre for ODL of the institute is providing access to high quality professional education to all those who seek it, respective of age, region, thus offering need based technical and vocational orientation to the higher education. The centre effectively incorporate the tools and techniques of information technology like internet, video conferencing, mobile, computing apart from distance learning material, practical and training work and periodical project work and assignments. The centre fosters and environment that promotes a life of learning for its constituents an uses feed back from its participants to improved the quality of its teaching, learning and support system with commitments to maintain quality, integrity and diversity of the open and distance learning mode of education.
The centre is committed to cater to the requirements of the students on the basis of conventional and non-conventional method of teaching and learning. The study centres are established to provide face to face interaction between the students and IIBM on all aspects of the academic programm. These centres provide weekend counseling, library facilities and other information. These will be available to the students during their visits to the study centres.
ODL System
The Open and Distance Learning (ODL) system is a unique and challenging mode of education offered at the centre level. This system provides ample opportunities for those desire to have institute education at their place of work or residence. This method is popularly known as Distance Education. It is perhaps the only way to meet the ever increasing demand for Higher Education especially in a developing country like India. Distance Education programmes are specially designed for :
• Candidates who discontinue their formal education owing to pecuniary or other circumstances.
• Candidates residing in geographically remote areas.
• Candidates who cannot get admission to a r e g u l a r c o l l e g e / p o s t g r a d u a t e department
