From the Directors Desk
Organizing a 12 day course for Headmasters was a challengefor me, personally, as I have never taught any Primary class.
However the challenge was accepted and after discussions with my team, a planwas chalked out. Along with teaching of the four subjects, other topics like ChildRights, Corporal Punishment, e-CTLT, Hot Potatoes were taken up. Theparticipants were actively involved in every session and enriched everyproceeding with their personal anecdotes and suggestions. The 12 days flew past,it seems too quickly. I thank the team of Associate Director, Resource Persons andof course my ZIET Bhubaneswar faculty for their unstinted support. I lookforward to suggestions to make the second spell of the course more useful andenriching.

REPORT OF LECTURE OF Ms Acharya on
Teaching of English in Primary Classes & Teaching Learning Materials
Ms Anita Acharya, the lady with a simple, serene and pleasant personality gave a very fruitful andvaluable lecture on how to make a class lively, active and interactive.
She revealed how to enlighten the lamp of knowledge hidden in students through various activities andgames. She involved the participants in STAR GAME a guessing game, which can be played in pairs.
Then she showed an advertisement page to the participants. Many activities related to theadvertisement page were organized in the class, like framing questions, making fill ups, writing true-false statements, writing composition etc. the idea was how to make use of a single page to carry out abundle of activities in the class.
The main motto behind these involvements is how to involve students in interesting, joyful and creativeactivities and games to create a favourable environment for learning and in turn to enhance learning.
For TLM she had brought bags full of TLMs and asked each group to search appropriate TLM bagaccording to the theme given to each group. There were following TLMs in the bags:
Colourful and attractive bangles Pencil box Room cleanliness articles like Harpik, broom, phenyl, etc Plants of aloe vera, Tulsi etc Body cleanliness articles like soap, tooth paste, nail cutter etc
Then each group showed its TLM and discussed its utility and suitability for the target class and concept.Later she conducted many activities using TLM. Some of them are as follows
Adding Adjectives to each member by the group Making crossword puzzles in groups on topics eg: names of rivers, colours, wild animals, etc. Ppt of Poems: State the States and all Hindi alphabets were shown.
Then she gave an insight into the type of learners and that learning is different for everyone.
LINGUISTIC LEARNER
The learner
AuditoryKinesthetic
Visual
Page 58
She suggested variety of TLM which can be used to meet the diverse need of alltypes of learner eg: work sheets, white boards, organogram, graphic organizers,Venn diagram, maps, charts, posters, slogans etc
It was indeed a very thoughtful and useful session for all the participants.
CONTINUOUS COMPREHENSIVEEVALUATION

Detailed List of EVS Indicators (Class III to V) each indicator consists of many abilities that need to bedeveloped over the three years. By the time children finish primary school we should have helped theirabilities and concepts to develop along the following indicators:
1. Observation and Recording
Using the senses to gather information
Observing an object, an event or a phenomenon
Identifying differences between similar objects/events
Identifying similarities between different objects/events
Noticing greater details
Recognising the order of events that take place in a sequence
Reporting and narrating an event or process; oral and written presentations
Reading pictures, maps and tables, with gradually increasing complexity
2. Discussion
Listening to others ideas and opinions
