World Mission Sunday (Oct. 20-21) asks us for our prayers and,
if possible, a charitable contribution, to support the mission of the
Church in places that are particularly poor or where she is partic-
ularly newly established. Your gift supports the building of par-
ishes, schools, and hospitals, and the education of clergy, in
these mission lands, so that the mission of the Church can be
richly lived out, and the witness of Christ’s disciples be seen.
God has generously blessed us with so much wealth, and so
many resources of all kinds. In solidarity with the entire mis-
sionary Church, do please remember to pray for the success of
the Church in mission territories in evangelizing and bringing
the peace that only Christ can give. Please consider also making
a gift to our brothers and sisters in Christ, who need so much.
Attention Men: It’s not too late! If you didn’t get start-

tunities to start each Monday! Just register at MenRiseUp.org. Contact

insightful film that covers 50 years of history that changed the
Catholic Church and the world. This is a story that draws emotion
and lessons from history itself, dramatically mixing stunning
reconstructions and real film footage. Watch

Bishop Walker Nickless Will Lead Conversation Sessions Through-out the Sioux City Diocese in October 2018
These sessions provide an opportunity for people to
discuss thoughts, hopes, and fears regarding the re-
newed sexual abuse crisis in the church. The dates and
locations are: Monday, October 29, at Holy Cross Parish, St. Mi-
chael Church in Sioux City Tuesday, October 30, at Holy Trinity Parish, Corpus
Christi Church, in Fort Dodge.
Amy Bloch, Director of Catholic Charities, and Father Brad Pelzel, Vicar General, will accompany him.
Meetings will begin at 6 pm with silent prayer in the church. At 6:30, Bishop Nickless will offer some re-marks, including an overview of the diocesan protocol for responding to any allegations of misconduct. There will then be an extended opportunity for conversation, comments, and questions from those in attendance. Bishop Nickless hopes that those in attendance will leave understanding that the Diocese of Sioux City is doing all that it can to be spiritually and lawfully just and accountable.
