The Value Proposition

The HOT system will provide a “never-before,” revolutionary means of monitoring an soldier’s temperature, creating the optimal safety alert system for medics and certified military trainers.

Wireless RF Technology

One of the central components within the HOT system is

the wireless RF (Radio Frequency) tag that sends data to a medic or PDA.

• Intelligent Long Range (ILR) active RFID tag• 300 yard read/write radius• Temperature logging• 1,000-tag simultaneous identification• Battery life – one year plus• Impact resistant & Industrial Housing• Water proof

Sensor Technology

Sensor hardware is also a primary component and directly measures forehead temperature and estimates core temperature.

•Custom Design

•Measures temp from temporal artery

•Captures multiple readings

•Impact Resistant

•Non-Invasive, “Pinpoint” size

•Only weighs 14 grams

PDA Hardware & Software Solution

The handheld PDA is the medic’s tool which supports their ability to monitor the temperature trends of every soldier. It’s equipped with proprietary software specifically for heat monitoring.

• Customizable database• Up to 1,000 helmets accessible• Built-in audible alert• Historical data

The Components

Heat SensingThe highly-sensitive sensor measures forehead skin temperature from

the temporal artery. Preliminary data indicates that there is a correlation between forehead temperature and core body temperature as measured with our device. Kennesaw State University is in the process of further validating this data.

Remote reportingThe system is equipped with a custom RF tag or assembly that

gathers heat data and transmits it to a handheld PDA. The data can be

downloaded to a user’s computer and reports are generated that detail dates, times, and temperature readings for each individual soldier.

The Components (cont.)

Software ApplicationProprietary software shows soldier information such as

temperature, name, rank, and any known medical conditions.

Customized DatabaseAllows each unit to create additional fields of data

regarding the soldier (ex. weight, height, physical condition,

etc.).

The Software Application

Screens 1

Standby Mode – System remains in standby mode until

user acknowledges system to conduct a system check.

The Software Application

Screen 2

Status Mode – User can view multiple players and

monitor their ongoing body temperatures in real-time.

The Software Application

Screen 3

Soldier Personal Mode – User can access soldier data such as their name, unit, last temperature, tag number, and Social Security number.

The Software Application

Screens 4

Medical Info and Notes Mode– User can access soldier’s medical information and Notes to engage with medics or commanders in case of an emergency.

The Software Application

Screen 5

Help Mode – Hothead Assist ™ provides a quick

reference guide to medics when

facing the challenge of an overheated soldier.

• User Guide• Navigation• Customizing Database• QuikLinks to Symptoms• QuikLinks to Treatments

Beneficiary and End User

The beneficiary and end user of the HOT System:

Soldiers: Feel safer that someone is personally monitoring their body’s temperature

Medics: Will know the heat risk level of their soldiers beforeit reaches above-normal levels
