HOW TO TRACK CLICKS FROM SOCIAL MEDIA MARKETING EFFORTS

USING BIT.LY BY ALLAN T. AGUIRRE

Bitly shortens, shares, manages and analyzes your favorite link

Open your browser

Go to www.bitly.com

Bitly’s sign up page

Click SIGN UP

You can sign up with your Facebook account

Click SIGN UP WITH FACEBOOK

Enter Email or Phone Number

Enter your Password

Click Log In

You can also sign up using your Twitter account

Click SIGN UP WITH TWITTER

Enter Username or email

Enter your password

Read the notification

Click Authorize app

Or you can create account using your email address

Enter a Username

Enter your Email address

Create your Password

Please take note of the rules for password

Re-enter your password

Click the box

Follow the instruction

Click CREATE ACCOUNT

Bitly’s welcome mesage

Click START CREATING BITLINKS

Your Bitly’s dashboard

Click CREATE BITLINK to start

You have to paste long URL

For example, I’ll enter link to a blog

Click Create

It automatically gets the title of the page

Your shortened customized bitlink

Add or create tag

Your bitlink is now on your dashboard

Click COPY to copy the link

You can paste it to your social media accounts

Let’s say on your Facebook account

Create a message

Right-click on the space

Click Paste

Your bitlink is attached

As well as the preview of the page

You can select your audience

Click Post

Your link has been posted

Clink the link to go the page

You will be directed to the page

This is equivalent to a single click

Going back to your Bitly dashboard

You now have 1 click

Coming from Facebook

And the location

Scrolling down

You have the graphical representation of the clicks

Graphs also for referrers

And locations

You can also share the bitlink

Click SHARE

There are options for Twitter and Facebook

Click either Twitter

Or Facebook

Click Connect to a Twitter account to connect to Twitter

Click Connect to a Facebook account to connect to Facebook

For now, let’s connect to Twitter

Enter your username

Enter your Password

Again, take note of the notification

Click Authorize app

You are connected to Twitter

Click again SHARE

Your bitlink will be shared to your Twitter account

Click TWEET

Your bitlink has been shared

Your bitlink on Twitter

If you click the link

Again, you will be directed to the page

Going back to your Bitly dashboard

You now have 2 clicks

With Twitter as the latest referrer

And the location

Scrolling down

The graph representing the clicks

The graph for referrers

And the graph for locations

You can also edit your bitlink

Click EDIT

You can change the title

You can also customize your bitlink

As long as the link is not yet taken

For example, I changed the bitly

It changes also in the dashboard

You can also add or create a new tag

You can also change the date covered by your data

Click the date

Select date range

Click APPLY

Your number of bitlink has a limit

Click the menu to know the limit

Your limit for your bitlinks

Then Sign Out
