Exclusively for Amazon’s Kindle Fire HDX tablet, Mayday is a one-touch button that

video chat.

But first, what is Mayday?

From the agent’s desktop, he or she can view, navigate and annotate the user’s screen.

For now, Mayday is designed to help a new Kindle owner perform basic tablet functions, like increasing

the screen’s brightness.

Analysts predict that Mayday will ultimately serve as a sales tool, where

Amazon agents can recommend products (e-books, movies, electronics,

etc.) and guide the user through the purchasing process.

What else can Mayday do?

John Biggs of TechCrunch quotes Amazon’s CEO Jeff Bezos as saying it’s “actually very similar to having someone

standing next to you”, looking at your tablet and offering support.

Amazon’s biggest tablet competitor, Apple, doesn’t do this type of remote
