The average NFL game last 3 hours and 12 minutes

But how many minutes of action are there in a typical NFL game?

There are only 11 minutes of actual football action!!!

For over a decade I have had Tampa Bay Buccaneers season tickets.

It is a big time commitment

• 1 hour 15 minute drive down• An hour tailgating • 20 minutes to get into the stadium• 3 and a half hours at the game • 1 hour 45 minute drive back

It is a big commitment of money

• Tank of gas to get there and back: $50 per game

• Parking: $25 a game• Club seats for my son and I: $390 a game• Beer, coke and snacks: $50 a game• Total: $515 per game

That’s roughly $50 per minute of actual play!

Think about that!

• $50 per minute and I had the cheapest seats in the club section, on the 5 yard line (personally I like it there)

• Every section all the the way to the 50 yard line went up until the tickets where $750 per game

• Forget the stadium boxes, you are talking thousands…

Now that was at Tampa stadium at Cowboys stadium I paid $600 for one seat in roughly the same location!

How is it possible? That thousands of people invest an entire day and over $500 at a football game when most clubs struggle to get people paying $50 for 4 hours!

Because the NFL understands the one thing the golf industry can’t seem to grasp!

The NFL is NOT in The…

• The football business• Sports business• The recreation business• The leisure business

The NFL Understands Implicitly that it is in the ENTERTAINMENT BUSINESS!

The golf industry thinks it’s in the..

• Golf business• The club business• The recreation business• The leisure business• The people business• The green fee business• The membership business… But it is not or at

least is shouldn’t be if it wants to survive!

The Club room is cool, leather chairs, giant screens, sushi, marble in the rest rooms!

Before the game interact with past players

The pageantry of the team taking the field is an event in itself

The flag ceremony gets everyone standing hand on heart…

As the national anthem plays – I am English and I still get tears in my eyes

The fly overs before the game –Awesome! (sure wouldn’t want to be on the other end)

Food and Beer

Did I mention we have the best looking the cheerleaders?

The Retro Game, 80’s music and old popsicle uniforms – Love it!

Bands at half-time

The Monday night game with the whole country watching is always special!

Oh… and there is also a football game going on.. For 11 minutes at least!
