Concepts of Antenna

Definition of Antenna:- • Antenna is a device which can excite the space with electro-

magnetic waves on an apply of appropriate energy to it. • We can also say a device which convert the electrical energy

into Radio waves and vice versa.

Origin of Antenna:- Michael Faradays was the British scientist who had found the wonderful electromagnetic waves in 1830. He had given the famous electromagnetic law of induction.

Types of Antenna

• Single wire antenna.• Yagi antenna.• Dipole antenna.• Reflector antenna.• Horn antenna.• Microstrip patch antenna.• Fractal antenna.

Hybrid Multiband fractal patch Antenna

• Objectives :-• Why we need Micro strip patch Antenna.• Contribution of substrate in the patch Antenna.• Effects of slot on the Patch Antenna.• Importance of Fractal shapes.• Role of various Antenna feeding methods.• How we get Multiband antenna.• Work in Dissertation.

Objectives of designed Antenna

• Radiate on the ultra wide band frequency.• Increase the directivity of the antenna.• Decreases the loss factors.• Efficiency .

Advantages of Microstrip patch Antenna

• Micro-strip Antenna has very small in size.• Use for multipath models.• Less size but high coverage .• Mount any where.• Better Radiation parameters.• Due to this mounting capability it is used on

the helmets wallet, notebooks like antenna circuits and many more.

why we need Micro-strip patch Antenna

Applications study

• In Guided Missiles.• Navigation systems.• Satellite communication.• Mobile communication.• And many more.

Comparison

Study the concepts behind the Microstrip patch Antenna

Contribution of substrate

• Selection of substrate • We have different types of substrate with

respect to it different dielectric constant .

Different substrate and respective permittivity in HFSS

Comparison of substrates

Concept of Fractal shapes

Different types of feeding techniques

Why Slots on patch ?

• effect of slots on patch change the V.S.W.R , Return loss of the radiated antenna.

• We have seen by varying the slot length and width the resonant frequency shifted downwards and antenna gain decrease drastically.

• Using the slots also increase the bandwidth of the Antenna.

• A simple cut on patch change the path of the current and it change the bandwidth.

Slot effect on patch • With slot

Literature Review[1]Dincer nalban toglu We have notice In this paper the author have studied the concept of multiband patch antenna

This paper gives the simulations results at 0.9Ghz,2.4Ghz,5.2Ghz. It means the antenna resonate on these freuencies. It has used the substrate FR4 with dielectric having permittivity 4.6.

[2]sucheta yadav and pramod patel In this paper author has describe the effects of changing the dielectric constant and some

remaining parameters like the thickness of the substrate , resonating freuency.

[3]Prajakta b.Jadhav This paper has described different different shapes of the antenna.like E-shape, H , key type

antenna .

[4]springer chaucer In this paper the author has designed the suare shaped patch on the substrate. Design

implemented with HFSS(ansoft ). Probe feedinfg techniques , resonate freuencies -6.58Gh, 8.62Gh, 9.2Ghz.Author has presents the calculations on derectivity, gain, return loss parameters

[5]Amanpreet kaur This paper describe the concepts of fractals on the patch. The author has shown different basic

fractal shapes like sierpinski carpet ,koch curve , sierpinski gasket . Author has shown different basic fractal shapes .

[6]Jagtar singh sivia In this author has designed the sierpinski gasket antenna with FR-4 epoxy substrate and has a return

loss of -15.87 at the 5.57 Ghz. The author has shown his work on the x-band mainly on high freuency . The return loss will decrease he with perfect impedance matching at the patch .

[7]Ali w. azim In this paper we have studied the effect of current distribution. This paper presents the novel way

to get the end fire radiation patterusing microstrip patch antenna.

[8]Jagdish .M.Rathore conducted a study of different feeding techniues are using in the micro strip patch antenna . The

author has work on the various feeding techniues are using in the micro strip patch antenna . The author has work on the various feeeding techniques like co axial probe feed , line feed .

Future scope of the Implemented Antenna design

A novel single probe feed triple band circularly polarizedKoch asymmetrical fractal boundary antenna with rotatedfractal slot has been proposed and experimentally studied.Asymmetrical Koch single band CP, rectangular, fractalslotted antennas for multiband operation are studied. Byoptimizing rotation angle and feed point of the fractal slot, multiband CP radiation is achieved. The parameters of thefractal slot are optimized for better tri-band operation. Theproposed Ant 4 covers WLAN (2.4 and 5.8 GHz)
