VILA VIVA Program: Aims

VILA VIVA focuses on urban and socio-environmental renewal for villages and slums, as part of the Municipal Housing Policy.

It includes sanitation, risk areas elimination, road system restructuration, alleys’ urbanization, as well as deployment of parks and public equipment for sports and leisure. Families are also relocated to housing units built for that purpose. http://portalpbh.pbh.gov.br/pbh

VILA VIVA Program: Partners

It is based upon local community engagement, as well as an amplified study of villages, slums and housing projects from Belo Horizonte.

VILA VIVA is made possible due to a contribution of R$ 1.15 billion, including resources from the Growth Acceleration Plan (PAC) of the Brazilian Federal Government, the funding from the National Development Bank (BNDES) and Caixa Econômica Federal.

About Growth Acceleration Plan (PAC)PAC is an economic plan released in 2007 by the Federal Government that seeks investment in infrastructure (transport, sanitation and housing), encouraging credit and financing, improving the tax system and long-term fiscal measures.
