FROM THE EDITORIAL DESK
IEAS celebrates 10 Glorious years of service! A lot has happened these ten years… New people have joined our family, while
others bid farewell and moved on with their lives. Some have or are with us
since the birth of the school, some have seen it being born and moved, others
have seen it grow up to what it is today.
The month of September is one of the best months of the year. It is a time when children, irrespective of age, come back to school after a refreshing, re-laxing, yet enlightening summer vacations. Some travel to visit new places, others see new places having not travelled, while still others develop new
skills, collect different yet unique things or souvenirs to make their summer collections, or make a scrap book on how they spent their vacations.
On this beautiful morning, the Don Bosco school premises were filled with joy,
children were exchanging greetings with the ’Long time no see’ look on their
faces.
So as we begin school after our fantastic, funtastic, refreshing, fabulous summer
vacations, we are all set to come back to our studies and books and truly live up to our school motto, “ I AM BORN FOR GREATER THINGS!”.
The Dream of Don Bosco lives on through IEAS in its motto “I am Born for
Greater Things”. This can be summed up in one profound statement:-
“Great it is to believe the dream, as we stand in youth by the starry
stream; But a greater thing is to fight life through, and say at the end,
THE DREAM IS TRUE!!”.
Happy Reading!

INVESTITURE CEREMONY
On the 25th of January, 2012,
Every year as we get promot-
ed, we are very excited about
the new academic year, fresh
beginnings, new teachers, new
classmates, etc. But one thing
that each one eagerly awaits is
to assume the role of a leader.
Every student has expectations
of becoming a monitor/captain.
And then, the class elections
are held. Some have their wish-
es come true, others are left
disappointed. This is a class
phenomenon, but for the
school leaders, everything is

maxed out; the tension, the
nervousness, the pride, and
most of all hope. After all, this is
a rare opportunity and one of
the best ways to give back to
the school for all it has done.
Each candidate campaigns with
their symbols, posters,
distribution of badges,
filling up of the notice
boards with his/her
mottos and just befor
the voting day, ad-
dresses the whole
school about their
plans, achievements, and
all the positive attributes
they possess. And then,
the most awaited, the
most tense, the most ’I’ve
got all my hopes up’ day
arrives. The Voting Day!
Each and every student
votes for the candidate
they think are eligible for
the post of the school
leaders. At the end of the
day, the long awaited mo-
ment arrives….The an-
nouncing of the results.
IIt is a moment where so
many emotions are felt. Hap-
piness, pride, sadness, joy.
This is all very exciting in-
deed. But for the leaders, the

Investiture Ceremony is the best thing that can happen to them. This day, they pledge the oath and bind themselves to not only following but also
implementing the school rules. They are officiated with badges that mark them as leaders and show they have been entrusted upon with authority and are capable of leading others along their path to success.
From that day on, they work as hard as possible to fulfill their promis-
es, maintain discipline and decorum of the school and be a connecting
link between the teachers and students. At the end, everyone is happy,
even if they didn't get a role

The school’s Annual Musical was the highlight of
the evening. Annie –The Musical, a much loved
favourite charmed audiences with a display of the
talent of various students. The poignant story of
Annie and the orphans was portrayed with won-
derful singing, acting and dancing by the cast.
This year the main character of Annie was played
by two students and both Annies were tiny pack-
ages of child-like sincerity. Her fellow orphans also struck an emotional chord
with all present. Almost as delightful was the dog (played by a student). The char-
acters of Mr Warbucks (Odrick Monis) and Miss Hannigan (Fabiola D’Souza)
were meticulously portrayed. Grace Farrell (Manasi Arun) gave an elegant touch
to the musical with her wonderful voice and tender-
ness towards Annie. In collusion with Miss Hanni-
gan were her criminal brother “Rooster” (Kevin
Mendonsa) and his incorrigibly hedonistic girlfriend
“Lilly St. Regis” (Rebecca Raj) both played with the
appropriate level of villainy required. The colourful
backdrops were painted by the art teacher. In fact,
the most appealing part of the entire experience, for
anyone, was that there was no single most appealing
part. All cast and crew, on-stage and backstage
worked harmoniously to produce a musical experi-
ence that was delightful! The musical showcased the
talents of about 350 students involving Classes VI to
XI. Congratulations to the IEAS management, staff
and students on a mag-
nificent and successful
performance !!!

minds. A few collections that could really catch one’s eye was
the dried leaf collection from Kerala-which was the limelight to
any future “want to become a” biologist.
From seashells to stamps, pebbles to postcards, the exhibition
of the I-VIII summer collections was a gorgeous display of sheer
talent and uniqueness. We were amazed to see the varied and
the productive use of the children’s vacation time. Beside the
stamp collections, paintings, coins, postcards and pebbles, we
were introduced to a wide range of weird yet funky collections
like a keychain collection, medicine cap collage, paper made
and clay figures and even Ben10 Aliens collection. And that’s
not all! The collections not only had quantity, but their presen-
tation made us doubt that whether it was made by the young

We planned a tour to Malaysia and Singapore during
the summer vacations. We booked a packaged group
tour from Delhi for 8 days / 9 nights. Our schedule was
to spend 3 nights in Kuala Lumpur, 2 nights in Genting
Highlands (a world famous tourist resort with indoor
and outdoor theme park situated on the outskirts of Kuala Lumpur) and 3 nights in
Singapore. We are four persons in our family: my
parents, my elder sister and myself. We started
our tour on 13th July. We took the Malaysian air-
lines flight from Delhi to Kuala Lumpur. It was an
enjoyable flight and we reached the Kuala Lum-
pur airport at night. Kuala Lumpur is a beautiful
modern city with a mixture of natural beauty and
modern day infrastructure.
It has a lot of famous tourist places and mon-
uments like KL Tower, National Monument,
Independence Square, Batu Caves, Butterfly
Park, Lake Gardens etc. We visited all of
these places. We also spent an entire day at
Sunway Lagoon resort, a famous outdoor
theme park in Kuala Lumpur with wonderful
dry and wet games and rides.
We did a lot of shopping in Kuala Lumpur. We also enjoyed a lot of local as well as
Indian delicacies throughout our stay in
Kuala Lumpur. we went on a city tour
and visited major tourist attractions of
Singapore. We also rode the Singapore
Flyer, a replica of famous London Eye.
We went to Sentosa Island, one of the
biggest tourist attractions of Singapore
and famous for its theme park, majestic
Merlion statue, insect world, 4-D mag-
ics, water and fireworks show etc. On
our last day, we visited the world
famous Universal Studios, one of the only three of its kind in the world. We en-
joyed the rides, shows, various theme worlds etc. It was a really a memorable ex-
perience.

My summer vacations was one of the best I ever had this year.
It was very relaxing. I went for two months but made the best
of it. I enjoyed the heavy rains in Bombay and Goa. I had a blast
with all my cousins and friends. Sinead Rosario, XI-Com
I went to Europe with my family. There, I visited Italy, Austria, Switzerland, Nether-
Lands, Germany, London, Paris and Belgium. I went
there on a tour. I swathe famous London bridge, Eiffel
tower, Leaning tower of Pisa, and much more. I also did
a lot of shopping. I also had their local food which was
very unique and delicious. The people there were very
nice. The hotels were very comfortable too. I really en-
joyed and had a blast. Advaita Menon, XI-Com
Although I didn't travel this year, I enjoyed myself
in the best way possible while here in Kuwait. I
went roaming with my friends, went for a few par-
ties visited my relatives, and some of my relatives
came from my home country to visit us. The best
day I had was when I went to entertainment city. It
was a long journey, but it was fun. I enjoyed myself
to the fullest. Zaid Rafiq, XI-Com
This year I travelled to Goa as soon as my summer break started. I was very happy to meet my grandmother, relatives, and my pet dog Jimmy. We did some sight seeing, en-joyed the rain and admired the beautiful scenery all around. We also ate the authentic Goan food like Sorpotel, Pork sausage and much more. I also developed new skills like learning to speak French. I really enjoyed my vacations thoroughly. Angel Fernandes VI-C
I went to Iran for about 45 days, visited so many places and met my family members. I visited different places in
Iran. I got new friends. I went out with my cousins for shopping and had a ball of a time. I had a lot of fun inevery
place I visited. Fatima Haji, XI-Com

SPOTLIGHT OF THE MONTH Mr. John Fernandes
QUOTE OF THE MONTH...
This month’s quote is taken from a famous writer: Victoria
Osteen.
-Your life is significant. You have a pivotal role to play in
history. Don’t ever underestimate your value. You may not
be in the spotlight, but you will be rewarded for every
good deed, for every person you encourage, for every act
of kindness.
This doesn't literally mean that you have a very important
role to play in history. Yes, you do have a role to play. But, in
your life and in the life of others. IEAS teaches that you, or
in fact each one of us is born for greater things. Don’t think
that you can’t do better than the topper of the school, or
that your dream of becoming a engineer or a doctor will not
come true. If you think like that, you will definitely, 100%
not become one. Never lose your cool, and never be rude
or a bully to others around you. Be helpful (the one thing
IEAS teaches the most, but not at the cost of your studies!).
Rectify mistakes in any
failure,
Eventually you achieve
success;
Nullify confidence and
accept failure,
Forever you lose success.
Mr. John Fernandes, a parent, a wonderful web-designer by profession – the man who brought a fresh change in the scholastic year of IEAS. He helped in the outlining of our school website and has kept a close watch over the de-velopment of the website. He keeps a follow-up and is constantly on the move to improvise the website. We are thankful to him for helping us keep abreast with the latest trend in the academic field.

STUDENTS OF THE MONTH...
The saying ‘Hard work is the key to success’ always comes to life in IEAS. Stu-
dents of the 10th grade range from ranks 8.0 to 10. And how they achieve this
score? Solving practice papers, spending at most 10-12 hours of studying, go-
ing for tuitions and solving questions, etc. And the end result is showing the
whole world that they have built an excellent foundation for their future. This
year the two toppers of the 10th are Manasi Arun and Sharon Rose Lucas who
have gained a full 10 point grade in the board examination and have received
a certificate of merit from the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE),
Delhi. When I asked them how it felt, this is what they had to say, “It feels
great! Working hard, staying up late all those nights, solving as many papers
as possible, referring to the previous years’ question papers, and then getting
the good fruits to what we have sown”. Was this difficult for them? “Yes, it
was. In fact, this is our first experience of writing an exam such as this. Be-
cause the thing about this exam is that you have to wait for almost a month
for your results. And the worst part is that the tension gets built up inside,
people will be wondering whether
they have done badly. And then
when it comes out, everyone will be
so happy that their results have come
out and that they have done well.”
So, IEAS congratulates Manasi and
Sharon on their achievement and
wish them all the very best for their
future.
