KVKs selected under NICRA project in ATARI, Zone VII

Total Seventeen KVKs comes under NICRA TDC in Zone VII

Status of area and production share of States under Zone VII

State Area (lakh ha) Production (MT)

Climate challenges of pulses production

Drought

Frost

Uncertain rainfall

Hail storm

Methods Practices to overcome the problem

(i) Natural Resource management : Deep Ploughing, Ridge and Furrow method of sowing

(ii) Crop production : Advancement of planting dates , Crop

diversification.

(iii) Institutional Intervention : Seed Bank, Custom hiring

Centers, Contingent plan.

Intervention: Advancement of planting dates of Rabi crop in areas

with terminal heat stress

How address resilience to climate change :- Escape terminal heat stress/ higher temperature during grain development stage and moisture stress at maturity Table : Average productivity, economics & yield loss saving in Chickpea

Contingent Crop Planning

Conclusion 1. The Different NRM Practices like deep plouging, RBF planting / sowing found superior over

farmer practice and preformed well in drought and flood both conditions.

2. Short duration varieties under crop production module helps to increase the diversification in farmers field and advance planting date helps to escape the frost . 3. Through Custom hiring centre covered the in which 1636 farmers and covered 750.72 ha

area.

4. Village climate risk management committee (VCRMC) formed in all NICRA villages for aware the farmers for climate change and contingent planning.
