Get Ready to EnergizeNiagara Falls will take your breath away, and it’s not just because of
the magnificent view. a four-season destination rich with culture, history,
recreation, entertainment, world-class cuisine and natural wonders,
Niagara Falls is a naturally inspired destination.

Naturally inspired business gatherings
Niagara Falls is on most people’s
“bucket list” as an ideal destination
for doing business and having fun.
Niagara Falls is perfectly positioned
to host highly productive business
gatherings, and because the city
is constantly reinventing itself and
improving, no two meeting experi-
ences are ever the same. It’s no
wonder that delegates are so eager
to visit Niagara Falls, and bring along
their families and partners so that
everyone can enjoy all the fun and
excitement the city has to offer.
What better way to energize your
meeting, event or convention than
by taking inspiration from the in-
credible power of the Falls? It’s easy
to do business here and, with more
than 16,000 guestrooms, the city
can accommodate groups of any
size and has the flexibility to work
within any meeting budget.
Niagara Falls will impress you with
its diverse choice of unique and styl-
ish meeting venues. Whether you
prefer one of the international brand
conferencing hotels, or any of Nia-
gara’s independent venues, you’re
certain to find just the right location
to complement your program.
More than 14 million people visit Niagara Falls each year.
Word is…
“What I really love about Niagara Falls is
that it runs the gamut. You can go on a tour
of wine cellars, or play Whack-a-Mole, or go
see the gorgeous natural beauty of the Falls.
There are so many attractions for so many
different tastes that there’s no opportunity
to go wrong in Niagara Falls.”

Have you ever planned a perfectly engaging conference,
only to have delegates arrive frazzled after hours locked in
traffic? and why risk losing all the positive energy of your
meeting program because delegates are steeling them-
selves to face the gridlock all over again?
delegate satisfaction is crucial to the success of any meet-
ing, and getting there and back can make all the differ-
ence. One of the best-kept secrets about Niagara Falls is
that it’s an easy 60-minute drive from the Toronto area,
and travellers are heading opposite to the direction of
rush-hour commuters.
Easy Come, Easy Go
Niagara Falls is easy to get to, no matter what ride you
choose. Take a private car, limousine, or charter Niagara
airbus for a direct transfer from Toronto’s Pearson
International airport. The Hamilton International
airport is a mere 45-minute drive, or consider
a flight to the Buffalo Niagara International
airport and then hopping into Canada
through one of three area border cross-
ings. locally, the Niagara district airport in
Niagara-on-the-lake, Ont., receives private
flights and offers local sightseeing tours.

Scotiabank Convention CentreOpened in 2011 to enthusiastic reviews, the Scotiabank Convention
Centre is the region’s newest and largest meetings and events
facility. The flexible, 288,000-sq.ft. facility can host huge events of
up to 10,000 people. The Centre was designed with meeting planners
in mind – from the 82,000-sq.ft. exhibition hall to the intimate 1,000-
seat theatre. designed to leadership in Energy and Environmental
design (lEEd) standards, the Convention Centre is committed to
sustainability and community leadership. In the kitchen, where menus
are created in partnership with celebrity chef anna Olson, chefs source
the freshest seasonal ingredients from local farmers and suppliers.
The Convention Centre is easy to get to and conveniently located
across the street from several Fallsview Boulevard hotels.
It Just Gets BetterIf you haven’t visited Niagara Falls recently, you’ll be pleasantly surprised by

Canadian Heritage has named the Niagara Region as a 2012
Cultural Capital of Canada.
Aspire to GreatnessThere are countless ways to be
inspired in Niagara Falls – from
nature’s wild beauty and the
courage of heroes past, to
ingenious and creative individuals.
1812 BicentennialThe War of 1812 was a turning point in Canadian history and
the Niagara area saw its share of bloody battles between Brit-
ish and american forces. Several commemorative bicentennial
events are taking place including re-enactments on the actual
historic battlefields. Curious about what wartime life was like
for doctors, soldiers, women and children? What role Six
Nations leaders and warriors played in the conflicts, and the
bravery of iconic figures such as laura Secord? Speakers from
Parks Canada can lead discussions, workshops and keynote
presentations that bring
history to life. don’t miss
the area’s three forts (Old
Fort Erie, Fort george and
Old Fort Niagara) and be
sure to visit Brock’s monu-
ment, which is a tomb and a
memorial to maj. gen. Isaac
Brock who was killed during
a battle to recapture Queen-
ston Heights.
July 2012 will see the grand
opening of the Niagara Falls
History museum, home to a
significant collection of War
of 1812 artifacts. learn more

Freedom TrailThe Canadian side of the Niagara river
was the final stop on the underground
railroad to freedom for refugee slaves.
among the many landmarks: The r.
Nathaniel dett memorial Chapel in
Niagara Falls and The St. Catharines
BmE Church (Salem Chapel) believed to
have been attended by Harriet Tubman,
a hero of the underground railroad.
Feats of EngineeringThe Sir adam Beck Hydro generating Station was built
in 1958 and is one of Ontario’s largest hydroelectric
facilities servicing cities throughout Ontario, Canada
and the u.S. The 40-minute guided tour includes views
from three observation areas. The eight-lock Welland
Canal was built as a water route to connect lake On-
tario to lake Erie and bypass Niagara Falls. Since 1829,
the canal has undergone numerous improvements and
today it is part of the St. lawrence Seaway.

How the Falls Were Formeddid you know that the falls at Niagara were formed about 12,000 years
ago when melting glaciers formed the great lakes? lake Erie is at a higher
elevation than lake Ontario. Water rushes down the Niagara river spilling
over the steep cliffs of the Niagara Escarpment to form the american Falls
(21-34 metres) and the Canadian Horseshoe Falls (57 metres).
