• Creation of a Virtual Amusement Park as an integration of several applications based on Distributed/Shared Virtual Environments.

• Creation of key attraction application scenes and possibility to future users for incorporation of their own applications.

• Goal: Provision of a shared networked virtual environment and creates a Virtual Amusement Park. Creation of key attractions (such as Virtual Rock Concert, Dance, Theatre and Olympic Games).

• An attraction is a composition of autonomous actors and other objects. The user can direct all behaviors of actors, based on a timeline or driving events.

COVEN AC40 project Rationale

• Research into advanced VR techniques while simultaneously placing stable applications before user in trials.

• Separation between research investigation and application development

• Presentation of two distributed VR systems (1. Development and 2.Research) and provision of a clear migration path between them.

• development of a next generation version of VRML that has become known as X3D. • production of an eXtensible Markup Language (XML) version of VRML.
