Traditional education teaches analytical skills - the ability to repeat predictable results.

01 The Needs

But what happens when the answer isn’t known? When imagination, not analysis, is needed to produce the new solution?

The jobs of the future are in creators: those that can use their imagination to create new products, models, services and systems.

Will our kids be ready for the jobs of tomorrow?

Puerto Rico needs to inspire the imaginative potential of our children in order to prepare them for the future.

•We  need  to  develop  innovators,  creators  and      crea1ve  problem  solvers.

•Yes,  schools  teach  kids  how  to  do  math,  science  and  the  other  fundamentals  of  tradi1onal  educa1on.

•The  most  important  asset  every  child  has  -‐  their  imagina1on.

•We  want  to  introduce  kids  to  the  right  side  of  their  brain  -‐  the  part  that  conceptualizes  things,  imagines  things  be@er  than  they  are,  explores  new  possibili1es  and  crea1ng  unique  and  different  ideas.

• Lateral/Divergent  Thinking-‐  the  use  of  unfiltered  and  free  flowing  imagina,on  to  explore  new  possibili,es  (there  is  more  than  one  right  idea.)

• Teamwork:  sharing  ideas  and  inspira,on  -‐  The  whole  greater  than  the  sum  of  its  parts.    Working  together  we  can  accomplish  much  more  than  alone.• Assistance:    The  ideas  of  others  are  an  opportunity  to  help  them  expand  on  their  thinking.    Some, mes  the  greatest  role  is  to  help  others  build  their  ideas.

• Bravery:    We  learn  best  when  we  dare  to  try  something  we  don’t  know  how  to  do  at  first.    Being  brave  enough  to  take  ac,on.• Perseverance:  Our  first  abempts  may  fail.    It  may  be  difficult  at  first.    But  if  we  keep  at  it  and  learn  from  each  experiment  we  will  succeed.

1. IMAGINATIONA Different Approach to Learning ...Let’s Try It!

"A  giraffe  has  a  long......."                                  But  what  about...:  set  of  legs,  a                          long  tongue,  a  long  memory,  a  long                    way  between  it's  feet  and  it's  food.                We  tend  to  like  the  "one  right        answer"  we  are  used  to  but  that  keepsus  from  seeing  other  possibili=es.    And  if  we  can't  imagine  new  possibili=es  we  will  never  do  or  invent  anything  new.

2. BRAINSTORMLet’s get them to collectively come up with solutions to a problem.

How to Get a Banana to the Moon?Kids work in groups along with one of our “laboratory Assistance” to collaboratively come up with alternative, imaginative and inventive solutions to the challenge.

Lab Assistance with guide them to first come up with many ideas and then help them choose their favorite ideas that they will draw up on a large sheet of paper to present back to the rest of the groups.

All along we encourage teamwork, helping of others and dynamic and fun thinking.

What??!?!?!?Rube Goldberg designed complicated machines to do very simple tasks.

They serve very little practical purpose but they are a way to engage kids in building and experimenting while using their imagination to solve problems. It also teaches them that they can INVENT things.

3. EXPERIMENT

This  presenta,on  is  confiden,al  and  property  of:  This  presenta,on  is  confiden,al  and  property  of:

HOWWorking in small groups our Lab Assistance give a box of materials to kids and invite them to create their own machine that will deliver a small ball into a cup.

Along the way they will find new ways to build their machine and experiment with alternative solutions.

The Only missing piece is YOU.

We are looking for brands or organizations that believe a better Puerto Rico is possible if we invest in the talents of our kids.

We will work with you to incorporate your brand and message into our machine, send home materials, the FB follow up site and in all other smart kinds of ways.

So, what are you waiting for?
