INTRODUCTION• Infosys Limited (NASDAQ: INFY) was started in

1981 by seven people with US$ 250. Today, we are a global leader in the "next generation" of IT and consulting with revenues of US$ 6.35 billion (LTM Q1-FY12).

• Infosys is the second largest IT company in India

• The company offers software products for the banking industry and business process management services also provides end-to-end business solutions.

Company ‘s History

• Infosys was founded on 2 July 1981 by seven entrepreneurs: N. R. Narayan Murthy, Nandan Nilekani, Kris Gopalakrishnan, S. D. Shibulal, K Dinesh, Ashok Arora, and with N. S. Raghavan officially being the first employee of the company. The founders started the company with an initial investment of INR 10,000.The company was incorporated as "Infosys Consultants Pvt Ltd." in Model Colony, Pune as the registered office.

ESTABLISHMENT OF INFOSYS

1981: Infosys Technologies Ltd. is founded in Bangalore, India, by N.R. Narayana Murthy and seven other software engineers.

1987: Infosys opens its first international office in Boston, U.S.

1992: Infosys becomes a public limited company in India.

1993: Company issues stock through public offerings on three stock exchanges in India.

It received ISO 9000 certification.

• 1999: Infosys becomes the first India-based public company to be listed on an American stock exchange, the NASDAQ in terms of market capitalisation in its category of software consulting and services companies.

• Infosys becomes the 21st company in the world to achieve a CMM Level 5 certification.

2005: the company was honored the 'Global Most Admired Knowledge Enterprises' award. It is the India's only company to have received such a prestigious award that led to the achievement of Global hall of Fame for its services. 

• Records the largest international equity offering of US$ 1 billion from India.

• 2008 :Infosys crosses revenues of US$ $ 4.18 billion

Dependence on External Environment

• Political stability: Indian political structure is considered stable enough expect the fact that there is a fear of „hung parliament‟ (no clear majority).

• Countries like Asia and Africa have political unstability.
