Inclusive Workforce Employer (I-WE) Designation

What is I-WE designation?

Application process and “stamp of approval” for employers to become certified which indicates to the public, they are inclusive with their workplace practices.

I-WE is an employer-driven designation.

I-WE Goal

Reduce disparities and raise awareness of the value of and methods for increasing diversity by creating a designation to recognize and promote inclusive employers.

I-WE Background

Idea developed by the Community Workforce Inclusion Council (CWIC) in Northwest Minnesota in Fall 2019

Presented and approved to the Regional Workforce Alliance (RWA)

Five pilot organizations receive designation in pilot phase in July 2020

By 2048, total population 6.4 million w/ 2.2 million being non-white (6,431,506 – 4,215,298) Anticipate largest growth among Black or African American residents (75%) , followed by 2 or more races – non Hispanic (59%), Hispanic (48%) Looking at 2018-2038 projection, we can see all other group increasing expect for white is will decrease

Criteria for I-WE Designation

1. Express a commitment to an inclusive workplace in their stated values, mission or policies.

2. Assess how diversity, equity and inclusion influence their work and culture.

3. Provide diversity, equity and inclusion education for staff and leadership.

4. Allocate resources to support and sustain an inclusive and equitable workplace.
