Incredible Years Reflection

Session Two: Tuesday 27th August 2013

Immediate praise impacts everyone in the class for the better.

Teachers nurture students as a gardener nurtures plants.

Re-directing in a positive way.

Spreading around the praise so all students feel acknowledged.

Start the day with a positive connection.

When praising an individual, use their name.

Relationship building, show a personal interest in what students are doing.

Catching children being good.

Celebrate small successes for challenging student by making links with home.

Parents more involved with child’s class needs now a strategy employed to help them.

Use Happy Grams to build positive relationships with whanau.

When we spend time on positives we feel better at the end of the day.

Sharing positives with parents builds relationships.

Reflecting on what I am doing and how I am doing it.

Teacher attention is a powerful reinforcer for students to learn what matters.

All children want to be liked and acknowledged.

Establishing a boundary enables a class to help with a new student and problem behaviours.

Use of:-visual timetable-non-verbal-give me 5-noticing good kids-positive projections-positive nominations

Praise must be sincere.

What ever the teacher pays attention to you get more of.
