strategic goals and align to “strategic” intent• Build and communicate an innovation charter• Define your innovation model and the

appropriate “facets”• Establish innovation goals and appropriate

Trend Spotting / Synthesis

• Understand the importance of identifying trends and emerging opportunities

• Distribute the responsibility to gather the insights to a broad group

• Take on the responsibility to synthesize and report the implications of the trends

Idea Generation

• Use the technique and tool that’s appropriate for the situation

• Bring these tools into common, everyday use• Set expectations about the planning and

Process and Roles

• Use an existing process or define one for your team

• Identify the key phases and responsibilities• Establish consistent evaluation criteria• Understand the likely outcomes and work the

Innovation Leadership

• Which dominates – culture or leadership?• A good leader with the right attitude and tools
