Connecting to a PC
To connect by USB communicationUse the USB cable and the USB spacer to connect this product to a PC .
CAUTION• Insert the USB spacer securely to the depth of the USB cable connector .
• ItisnecessarytoinstallthesoftwareonaPCbeforeconnectingtheUSBcabletoaPC.
1. Connect the PC side connector of the USB cable to the USB port of the PC .
2. Attach the USB spacer to the DST-i side connector of the USB cable .
3. ConnecttheDST-isideconnector(withtheUSBspacerattached)tothisproduct.

To connect by wireless LAN communicationTheseguidelinesexplainhowtoexecute necessarysettingsonaPCscreentousetheDST-iwirelessly,registertheDST-isettings,andconnecttowirelessLANcommunicationforNorthAmericanmodelsonly.PleaseconsultwithyourITprofessionalforsetupandpropernetworksetting.
Thefollowingtwotypesofcommunicationmodesaresupported.However,itisrecommendedtosetupcommunicationsthroughinfrastructuremode.
• Infrastructuremode-AllowscommunicationbetweenaPCandtheDST-iviaanaccesspoint(i.e.router). • Adhocmode-AllowsdirectcommunicationbetweenaPCandtheDST-i(peer-to-peer).
NOTE• AdhocModeforWindows8.1operatingsystemisnotastandardselection.ForWindows8.1users,pleaseconnectusinginfrastructuremodeorthroughtheUSBconnection.
YourPCmustbeequippedwithwirelessLANcapability(adapter)andforinfrastructuremodeanappropriateaccesspoint(wirelessLANrouter)isnecessarytoproperlyconnectthePCtotheVCI;pleaserefertoPCand/orrouteroperationmanual for proper setup .
OncenetworkconnectionisestablishedthroughWiFiorUSB,utilizethe“DST-iConnectionManager”onthePCtoestablish DST-i communication .
TheavailableDST-iunitswillappearonthePC:
FromtheavailableDST-i,selecttheappropriateserialnumber(S/NonthelabeladheredtothebackoftheDST-i)and“SetDefault”toallowautomaticconnectionforfutureinterface.
Oncecommunicationisestablished,execute the HDS application . Please refer to the DST-i Wireless LAN Connection Set-upInstructionsforfurtherdetailsonwirelessPCsettings.
NOTE• Connection by wireless LAN communication is only possible on a model with wireless LAN .
•WhenwirelessLANcommunicationwiththePCisestablished,thePCcommunication(wirelessLAN)indicatoronthisproductflashesblue.
•WhenconnectingviabothLANcommunicationandUSBcommunication,theUSBconnectiontakespriority.

2. Attach the USB cable lock to the USB cable .
