International Media, its Impacts and Future In

Pakistan

Introduction• Pakistan is one of those developing countries which

are suffering from Americanization and cultural

invasion due to the foreign channels on TV.

• International channels like star plus, HBO, Sony, star

movies and other national channel showing foreign

content are most favorite channels for people in

Pakistan.

Significance of Study• International Media is often considered to have a lot

of importance in Pakistan.

• This study will provide readers with an insight of the

idea whether there are any impacts that are caused

by international media. If there are, then what are

those impacts and what is its future in Pakistan?

Objectives• To find out the popularity of international media in

Pakistan.

• To find out what are the effects cause by international media on Pakistani media, youth, children, culture and whole society.

• To find out the future of international media in Pakistan.

Literature Review• Things have gotten out of hand for Pakistan because

of a lot of foreign content in Pakistani media.

• The foreign media especially dramas has severely

affected our society from the five years old to 80.

• Many of our advertisements, television programs,

films, cable and even websites have adopted Indian

and western styles and themes.

• In Pakistan almost every child is a television addict.

• The average child watching television sees adults

behaving immoral, cheating, killing each other,

shouting, crying etc.

• It teaches children that all adults behave in similar

manner as shown in TV programs and that they too

have every right to do the same.

• But Foreign media especially western media also

liberalize the Pakistani media and introduce the

new dimensions of films.

• It also helps youth to be up to date and learn new

things.

Research Methodology

• The method that has been used to carry out this

research is Survey.

• This survey has been carried out in the general

people, but most of them are students.

• The total number of respondents for this research

were 100.

• The Unit of Research that has been used for the

research is questionnaire.

• In order to remove any ambiguity, respondents

were entertained one by one so that they might not

get confuse and can easily respond to questions.

Conclusion

• The youngsters usually spend 3-4 hours daily against

Television and have only two reasons or list of

preferences to watch TV: Entertainment and Leisure.

And this Entertainment and Leisure is sought out from

the foreign channels mostly instead of Pakistani

channels (As shown in results).

• lots of people are satisfied with international media.

While those who are not satisfied, are so because they

believe that international programs are spreading

vulgarity and immorality. But, even if they are not

satisfied they still want international media in country.
