World Wide Web 

“The World Wide Web (“WWW” or simply the “Web”) is a global information medium which users can read and write via computers connected to the Internet. The term is not a synonym for the Internet itself. The Web is a service that operates over the Internet, as e-mail does. The history of the Internet dates back significantly further than that of the World Wide Web.

Domain Name System

Hierarchical distributed naming system for computers, services, or any resource connected to the Internet or a private network.

Domain Name Service – DNS – is a database of names linked to Internet Protocol addresses (IP address). A DNS server is a special purpose computer that provides this service to web users.

When IP addressing first came out, everyone thought that there were plenty of addresses to cover any need. Theoretically, you could have 4,294,967,296 unique addresses (232)
