General Guidelines1. Make sure your clothes are neatly ironed.

2. Make sure your clothing fits properly.

3. Don’t wear flashy jewellery.

4. Dress according to the season.

5. Don’t wear perfume or aftershave.

6. Make sure you have a nice, clean haircut that makes you look well groomed.

7. For men, make sure you shave and keep facial hair to a minimum.

8. For women, don’t wear anything that is too revealing.

9. Avoid articles of clothing with loud, busy prints. Solid colours are best.

10. For women, wear appropriate lingerie and/or pantyhose underneath your clothing.

11. For women, don’t overdo your makeup.

12. Make sure that your clothing match in colour and style

What NOT to Say During Interview

• How much does this job pay?• My last boss was _______ (insert negative comment)!• I’ll have your job in five years!• I hate my job!• I don’t have any weaknesses.• Why isn’t your business doing very well?• How much holiday time will I get?• You’ll regret it if you don’t hire me.• I don’t have any questions.

What is Your Greatest Weakness?

• Do not avoid answering the question• Avoid using scripted or cliché weaknesses• Answer honestly and to the point• Explain the steps you have taken to solve • Do not blame anyone

What are Your Greatest Strengths?

• Relate strengths to job requirements• The best way to respond is to describe the

skills and experience that directly correlate with the job you are applying for

statement by highlighting why you are the best job candidate. • Make Sure you have Addressed the Interviewers Concerns - You want

to be sure that all the issues have been dealt with. • Express your Enthusiasm for the Position - End your job interview on an

enthusiastic by highlighting your interest in the position and company. • Find Out the Next Step - you need to know exactly what happens next in

the interview process - a second interview, assessments, a medical etc. • Thank the Interviewer - Thank the interviewer sincerely for the time

spent with you.

• The interviewer acts interested• The interview lasts longer than expected• You are introduced to other team members• The interviewer asks about availability• They say they are going to call you soon• The interviewer schedules a second interview• The interviewers body language and

expressions show interest

Signs the Interview Went Badly

• The interview is shorted than expected• The interviewer looks bored, disinterested• The interviewer does has no eye contact with you• The interviewer gives you many reasons why you

don’t fit the position• The interviewer mentions they already have

many good candidates• The interviewer uses negative listening

• Continue job search• Reflect• Thank you email • Follow up phone call – only if mentioned in the interview
