The project emphasis is on developing ideas using digital media and digital production. You will need to write a learning agreement and identify a theme for your research and visual enquiry. Using this as a starting point you will be asked to explore a variety of digital processes that are appropriate to developing your ideas. These may include Photoshop, Illustrator, CAD embroidery, laser cutting and Digital weave and print. There will be workshops during the unit to further develop your knowledge and skills in these areas, and there will also be workshops in drawing, print and stitch. Your practice during this unit will be focused on your own research interests and as such involves a greater level of self management and pro-activity. You should start your project with drawing, photography and visits to museums, galleries and other venues which can give you access to primary research. It is important that your research activity is developed beyond internet searches. You will produce a body of textile work supported by thorough visual and contextual research, which should include drawing and photography, and which demonstrates your engagement with digital processes.
