Iranian population is estimated to be some 75,000,000. about 60% of the population are residing cities and the rest 40% are either in villages (38%) or in tribal movement (2%). Male/female balance is almost perfect. Life expectancy is 67 years.

Some 60% of Iranian land is desert. However except a 10%, it is habitat to many animal and plant species. These species are resilient to the conditions in desert.

There are at least 10 languages spoken in Iran. Each of these languages have their own spectrum of dialects. Persian is the official language. It is a branch of Indo-European languages called Indo-Iranian. The closest language to Persian is Sanskrit. Arabs call it Farsi.

Norooz is the first day of Farvardin (the first month in Iranian calendar), The beginning of Spring, and The beginning of year, when Day and Night times are exactly equal.

month of each year (Farvardin) to keep away bad luck. They plan a Picnic to have fun and get relaxed. They wish and knot green herbs, located on the norooz table.

• Religion and climate have had a great impact on Iranian cuisine. Most traditional Iranian foods are a combination of bread with milk products. However, traditional luxury foods, which are now everyday foods, are variants of stews, soups and rice. Pork meat and alcoholic beverages are forbidden in Islam.
