IRRIGATION MINISTER OF CHHATTISGARH

The irrigation department of Chhattisgarh has the mission of optimal sustainable development, maintenance of quality and efficient use of water resources.

The irrigation minister is the head of the department. As Chhattisgarh is endowed with a rich and vast diversity of natural resources, the water among one of important resource.

The development and management of irrigation plays a vital role in agriculture production. Integrated water management is vital for poverty reduction, environmental sustenance and sustainable economic development.

The National Water Policy envisages has integrated water resources of the country so that to be developed and managed properly in a proper manner.

The Ministry of Water Resources is headed by Irrigation minister. He only takes the responsibility for laying down policy guidelines and programmes for the development and regulation of country's water resources.

The provision of special Central financial assistance for specific projects and assistance in obtaining external finance from World Bank and other agencies..

Overall policy formulation, planning and guidance in respect of minor irrigation and command area development, administration and monitoring of the Centrally Sponsored Schemes and promotion of

participatory irrigation management.

The irrigation minister takes the initiative in talks and negotiations with neighbouring states, in regard to river waters, water resources development projects.
