masculuitj (Perez) ♂, L. mose ♀, L. katharinae ♀, L.pseudo- sphecodlmorphum (Bliithgen) ♂,L.

balneorum ♀ ♂, L. nabardlcum (Bliithgen) ♂,

INTRODUCTION

Bliithgen (1955) started. the revision of the HalIctidae

of Israel with the genus Halictus. In this second part. the genus

Lasioglossum is discussed, and this concludes the so-called

"Halictus" species (sensu Latreille) in the older sense as

stipulated by Bliithgen (1955) and afterwards. In the intro-

duction to the afore-mentioned paper, Bliithgen very critically

analyzes the generic subdivision of the old genus Halictus, but

in his latest paper (1961) he generally accepted the views of

Michener (1944) and even added a new subgenus Vestitolialic- tus.

Concerning the European fauna Ebmer also accepted in general the

view of Michener with the exception of the genus Chlorhalictus

(Dialictus according to Mitchell 1960),charac terized by its

greenish body colour; the reasons for thisr opinion are

extensively discussed in Ebmer (1969).
