Major Organs

• all of the major organs are:

• The esophagus, stomach, small intestine, large intestine, rectum, liver, and gallblader

Esophagus

• The esophagus is a muscular tube about 8 in long

• The esophagus transports food from mouth to stomach

Stomach

• Stomach is a bag it has the upper part known as the cardiac stomach

• Kills bacteria and breaks down food releasing to small intestine

Small Intestine

• Hollow tube about 20 ft long!

• Absorbs most nutrients found in your food

Large Intestine

• Hollow tube about 5 ft long!

• Absorption of water and electrolytes

Relation with circulatory system

• Digestive system relates to circulatory system because digestive system breaks down food so that it can be absorbed to circulatory system

Healthy Effects

• Coffee is good for the digestive system

• Eat fruits and vegetables

Unhealthy Effects

Smoking can put diseases in digestive system

Diabetes effects digestive system

Common diseases

• Chrohns disease

• Irritable bowel syndrome

• Hemorrhoids

• Indigestion
