Alberto Giacometti1901-1966
Born in Switzerland & studied art in Paris Known as one of the leading ‘surrealist’
sculptors. “Surrealism” focused on subconscious
thoughts and dream like visions
Giacometti worked obsessively on his figures until he had all but carved them away
Giacometti made his sculptures look this way because they represented the way he felt when he looked at a woman.

Pliers: tool used for turning, bending and sometimes cutting wire
Wire gauge: how thick or thin the wire is. 16 gauge wire is thicker than 20 gauge wire.
