Jesus and the Paralytic Man(Bethesda)

• In Jerusalem, there was a pool of water called Bethesda

• There were a great multitude of sick people, blind, lame, paralyzed, waiting for the moving of water.

What were they doing there?

• At certain time, an angel went down into the pool and stirred up water;

• Then whoever stepped in first was made well.

• There was a man who was paralyzed for 38 years!

I have no one to put me into the pool when the water is stirred up

• Jesus saw him lying there, and He had a compassion upon him

Do you want to be made well?

Why do you think Our Lord ask this question?

Rise, Take up your bed and walk

• And immediately the man was made well

• Took up his bed, and walked. • And that day was the Sabbath.

• The Jews said to him…

It is not lawful for you to carry your bed!

He who made me well said to me, “Take up your bed and walk.”

Oh no, What am I going to do?

But the man did not know who healed him

• Afterward Jesus found him in the temple, and said to him…

See, you have been made well.Sin no more…Lest a worse thing come upon you.

• The man departed and told the Jews that it was Jesus who had made him well.

“Most assuredly, I say to you, he who hears My word and believes in Him who sent Me has everlasting life, and shall not come into judgment, but has passed from death into life.”

John 5:24

Anyone of us who has a sickness needs to lift up his heart to God and say:

“My Lord, you have allowed for this sickness, and I do not object but I say to You say one word and my body and soul will be healed, or provide me with the power of endurance, or decrease my pain, or do not allow the pain of my sickness be beyond my ability.”
