Vision Statement

reciprocating saws were created for demolishion. they are also designed to look rugged for construction. what about the rest of the people who want to do things around the house? they need a saw which is elegant in styling while boasting an array of safety features to improve confidence

power tools don’t need to be manly...

Inspirationsimages of inspiration were used to create the form and

feel of the product. smooth transitions and crisp color transitions were to be used

Feature Ideationfeatures that would make a safer working environment for the user was very important so different ways to create confidence by safety features were designed and sketched

Form Ideationforms were then explored to create the

transformation from a utilitarian product into a more friendly and approachable form

Mock Upsfoam mockups were done to explore form, ergonomics and handling.

Problem Statementto create a simple inexpensive product that will aid in a student’s

organization in the classroom environment. the use of this product will allow students to utilize their desk space more efficiently. it will also allow

students to individualize themselves through various color ways

InspirationsI looked to nature as a source of inspiration in my design of The Levels line of chairs. The natural beauty of a flock

of seagulls in flight frozen in time intrigues me and had lead me through my design process

Physical Modelthe physical model was costructed from mild steel and was finished

in a forced patina to accentuate the steel’s physical properties

hours using Solidworks and hand sketching. Sharkie is conversation desk piece that will attract people to your business card

Problem Statementto redesign a standard 5 quart saucepan handle creating a comfortable, ergonomic and visually appealing product

Initial Testinginitial testing was completes by both a male and female member of the

team. each member peformed a series of tasks typically found during the use of a sauce pan. findings were then noted for redesign opportunities.

our initial findings included:• the handle was uncomfortable to hold as the

saucepan got heavier

• male tester could not get a good grip on the

handle (too small and narrow)

• female tester had to use two hands at one

point while filling the saucepan with water

• pouring of water from saucepan put strain on

the wrists

Brainstorminga series of brainstorming sessions led to 2 days of

sketching. from this process, we extracted the best ideas that we wanted to move forward with to create

mock ups for further testing

Objectiveto design and build blackbird sf in collaboration with craige walters, renowned interior designer. transformation from dated “hole in the wall” into an upscale cocktail bar utilizing reclaimed wood, original 1900’s back bar and keeping it’s historical san francisco feel

to create a modular storage system for a bartender’s essentials which allows a bartender to customize his or her

workstation to their drink specialties. supplies included are napkins, 2 different straws, toothpicks, and spoons

sketches were used to explore possible solutions which would match blackbird bar’s aesthetic while allowing easy

cubez is made from 18 gauge 314 grade stainless steel to provide ease of cleaning, sanitariness, and match the

bar’s drink rail system

the pattern are laser cut then are bent on a press brake. final assembly is done with a series of 6 spot

weld per piece

to create a glass and waste control system for blackbird which chan aid in streamlining the process of rinsing glasses before going into the dishwasher

as well as waste disposal at the end of the night

once research and empathic research was done, a round of brainstorming and sketching was done by the

team to explore the possible configurations, materials, and processes

Mock Upsmock ups were created to test ergonomics, workflow and functionality. once all functions were perfected, the final product was constructed

it into is designation. all plumbing and service were done as well

Problem Statementit’s hard teaching an old dog new tricks. This is especially true for fisherman. big game fishermen are known for fishing rough waters days on end just for the thrill of the catch. the dangers of the ocean are often ignored as shown by the many fisherman that don’t wear life vest. the product i have designed will compliment a fisherman’s experience while allowing a way of rescue in the unfortunate event a fisherman falls overboard

Ideationmost fishermen do not fish with a life vest and since drowning among fishermen is a fairly large occurrence, i looked at different routes to get a p.f.d. to a drowning victim. i found, through shadowing and empathic research, that if a victim fell off, it is very difficult to turn back around. i ended up with a floatation device that could be thrown or casted out to a victim.
