Team Gilboa U10-14 USSA team

• Train from 6:45-8:45pm (4 nights/week avail.)• Ski SL, GS, Kombi, and (SG for U14’s)• Attend Region 1 USSA races to qualify for

Rocky/Central Regional Championships• Attend camps for longer courses, more terrain,

more fun!

Typical Training Day

• All meet at 6:45pm for group warm-up and instruction.

• The Team Gilboa calendar will state what event will be trained each day.

• Many sessions will start with free-skiing drills and then move to gate training.

• At the end of practice everyone helps pull the courses and slip.

Typical Race Day

• Parents and athletes drive to the race venue with their region 1 bib and appropriate equip.

• Parents purchase lift tickets• Parents volunteer to help run the race (it takes

about 40 volunteers to run the race)• Athletes meet coaches at morning training courses.• Athletes inspect with coaches.• During the race coaches will be at the start and

finish.

• U10, U12, U14 race together– Register/pay for each weekend seperately– SL, GS, Kombi, (SG for U14’s)– Boys on one course, girls on another– Typically one run races– Typically two races per day– 2014-2015 Schedule (see handout)

What is USSA?

• The United States Ski and Snowboard association. Headquarters: Park City, UT.

• USSA is the United States ski racing national governing body.

“A sport governing body is a sports organization that has a regulatory or sanctioning function.”• There are over 400 USSA member clubs, TG is a

certified USSA club.• USSA creates a clear path to the US Ski Team.

How to register for USSA

• USSA.org– Click “membership”– Create a “My USSA” account and log into it.– Register a “new USSA member”• U16 and older must purchase “Alpine competitor”

– $200.00

• U14 and younger must purchase “Alpine youth”– $110.00

How to Register for Team Gilboa

• July 1st, 2015. Teamgilboa.com– The team will reach maximum capacity by late

summer.– Choose “U10-14 USSA Team”• 2014-15 prices:

– U10 USSA = $1125.00– U12 USSA = $1175.00– U14 USSA = $1475.00

*Club dues are $300/family (ussa only)

How to register for Region 1 USSA

• Skifast.com

– Region 1 registration usually opens in September or October. See handout for fee structure.

– Once registered, your athlete will receive 1 bib to use for every race. That bib will be available for pick-pick up at the comp center in late fall.

How to Register for a Weekend Race

• Login to “my.ussa.org”– Register and pay for the weekend race by the

Wednesday before the race.• U10-14 race day fee = $10.00• U16-21 race day fee = $20.00
