Cultural Education Services
One of the primary purposes of ISKCON is to propagate spiritual and cultural knowledge to society at large and to educate all people in relevant techniques to check the imbalance of values in life and to achieve real unity and peace in the world. Towards achieving this objective, ISKCON Bangalore created the Cultural Education Services (CES) in 2001, specifically aimed at enhancing values and life skills in children through culture-related activities. The CES department has multiple culture-centric initiatives providing systematic, intensive and performance-oriented training in various art forms and equipping children with essential life skills.
Heritage Fest
Heritage Fest is an entertaining and enlightening cultural carnival of contests for students from LKG to Class X, celebrating India’s vibrant culture and traditions.

Guidelines to participants:
All characters, situations, performances, dialogues, •scripts, costumes etc., should be based on Vedic scriptures only. For authenticity, please refer to books authored by His Divine Grace A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada.
Students may participate in multiple events by •purchasing tickets available at the venue.
All contests are in English only. •
Preserve your Token number that is provided to you on •the ticket as it is very important.
Event schedule:• Refer to the event schedule given in this brochure to know the date and time of the contests.
Finals:• Finals to be held in ISKCON Temple on September 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 6th, 2016.
Stage Performance:
The stage dimension is 12 x 36 ft. Participants may •practice accordingly.
Live or recorded music can be used. The participants •have to bring their own CD/Pen drive.
Lights, special effects and music playback systems •will be provided. Participants may visit the venue in advance to see the stage and venues.

Results and awards:
The decision of the judges will be final and binding.•
For results and other event details visit •www.iskconbangalore.org/heritage-fest/. Phone calls, e-mails or personal visits to know the results will not be entertained.
Attractive prizes for the winners will be given away in •a grand prize distribution ceremony in ISKCON. A few prize winners will also be provided an opportunity to exhibit their performance during the ceremony. Parents and teachers are welcome to this ceremony.

General Guidelines for DANCE1. Team size: 4 - 12 members.2. Only pure classical dance forms like Bharatanatyam,

3. Duration: A maximum of 3 minutes will be given for the qualifying round and 4 minutes for the final. For Team events – no prelims, only final round – 4 mins.
Judging criteria: Choreography, co-ordination, costume and expression.
*Tickets for solo dance should be collected from ISKCON, on first-come-first basis on paying Rs. 100/- per entry. Participation fees for team event is Rs. 50/- per member of the team

General Guidelines for Decorations1. All are team events, except Rangoli which has both solo
and team options. 2. Team size: 3 members. 3. Duration: 2 hrs. 4. Basic preparation to be done at home and brought to
the competition.5. KG cardboard mats (41.5 X 31.5 in) will be provided for
arranging the materials. 6. No prelims, direct final round for Altar Decoration,
Cookery and Pushpa Alankara events.
General Guidelines For Altar Decoration, Pushpa Alankara And Rangoli1. The Central Deity - Lord Krishna, Lord Rama, Lord
Vishnu and His consorts.2. Decorate using lamps, flowers, incense sticks, fruits. No
artificial flowers and foliage allowed.Judging criteria: Creativity, visual appeal, colour scheme, neatness, scriptural basis and overall presentation
General Guidelines For Cookery1. Theme is ‘Festivals of India’. 2. Prepare the dishes at home and bring to the
competition.3. Compulsorily top the preparations with tulasi leaves. 4. Using onion, garlic and using eggs is strictly prohibited. 5. Avoid tasting preparations even to check for sugar or
salt.

6. Students should provide the recipe and the list of ingredients to the judges.

General Guidelines For Drawing
1. Duration: 2 hrs.
2. Except drawing or writing sheets, all materials like pens, pencils, colour pencils, crayons, eraser etc., should be brought by the participants.
General Guidelines For Coloring / Painting / Pencil Shading
1. Sketch pens are allowed only for outlining, not colouring.
2. Sketches and duration:
a. Classes LKG – III: Full picture given; only colour the picture.
b. Classes IV - VI: Partial picture given; complete the picture and colour.
c. Painting/Pencil Shading: No picture given; draw and paint/shade.
Judging criteria: Visual appeal, colour combination, creativity and neatness
General Guidelines For Handwriting
1. English text matter along with ruled sheets will be given on the spot to write.
Judging criteria: Legibility, neatness, creativity, difficulty of script, embellishments, control, angle and word/letter spacing.

Culture Camp is one among CES’s manifold programmes intended for students of Class V to Class X and conducted during the summer vacations; it has an enjoyable and culturally surcharged environment.
Goloka Shades is a statewide colouring and painting contest conducted for school students of LKG to Class X. This is an occasion for the students to display their innate creativity and talent. The students are provided with colouring sheets.

Sri Krishna Contest is a statewide written test (paper-based, objective-type) conducted for school students of Class V to Class X, based on their study of existing books on Krishna conscious subject matter. The books currently prescribed are Class V-Young Devotees of Krishna; Class VI-Srila Prabhupada-A brief life sketch; Class VII-Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu; Class VIII-Vrajanandana Krishna; Class IX-Mathuranataha Krishna and Class X-Yadunandana Krishna.
