Minute 12: Dominant Features of Jewish Mystical Tradition
It is intensely relational, intimate and personal, a deep encounter between human and
Divine persons.
There is an active agency, the Divine is more interested in us than we are in It, and is
constantly seeking us. There is on-going prophetic voice providing guidance to the degree
one is open to hearing Presence.
It is right-brained focused: imaginal, intuitive, and metaphorical. It is cataphatic not
apophatic.
There is emphasis on pilgrimage, movement toward Unity, this is an on-going process. The
Divine adapts to our experience, to our level of awareness. It touches us where we are. It
is not up to us “to get up there”.
