Concept Statement:

Clean lines, geometric shapes and bright pops of color with playful elements in unexpected places describe the overall feel of the space, in keeping with true Mid Century style. Period print ads were used for inspiration. The floor plan is open, fun, inviting and playful. Color is used in balance and harmony throughout the whole space as well as the casita to provoke a nostalgic feel. Among geometric elements, the rectangle is emphasized to provide a cohesive look . Texture is utilized from throw pillows to sculpture, with architectural detail in ceiling and fireplace to invoke a time of Old Hollywood Glamour.

Concept Statement:

Jordanians are a passionate and proud people, and the country truly welcomes visitors with open arms. Regardless of your nationality, you’ll be greeted with nothing but courtesy and hospitality; This Hospitality can be dated back to the Bedouin culture. Taaroff is an Arabic word symbolizing an idea that encompasses all of Middle Eastern culture. Its meaning roughly translates to the etiquette of

giving and receiving in Middle Eastern hospitality.Amman is the modern and ancient capital of Jordan, formerly the Ammonite capital city of Rabat-Ammon, and later the Greco -Roman city called Philadelphia. Originally spread over seven hills like Rome, Amman now covers at least nineteen hills. It is a city of contrasts, a mixture of ancient and modern. Often referred to as “the white city”, Amman’s houses are a great canvas of overlapping beiges, ochre and whites. The outstanding whiteness is the result of the white stones of the country used in construction-rough hewn, smooth or lightly veined, and even polished white marble. The warm sunlight reflects off these buildings at sunset and creates a beautiful orange glow that mirrors the warmth and hospitality of the Jordanians. Upon arrival at the hotel Addiyafa, you enter into the lobby covered in traditional white marble, with columns that run floor to ceiling nodding to Amman’s roman past. In the guest rooms, warmly colored stone accents, marble motifs and brightly colored tiles reflect Jordan’s past. At hotel Addiyafa, guests receive the best that luxury has to offer

and will be accommodated in any way possible.

Concept Statement:

Hospitality, meal time and family are important to the culture of the Middle

East. Guests are considered as part of the family; traditionally, when a guest

first enters the home they are served Arabic coffee as a sign of welcoming. Its

price makes it a luxury and so its serving is a mark of respect for a visitor. This

Hospitality is tied back to the Bedouins and is carried out in traditions today.

After coffee guests are invited to sit and talk with the family, while the host

begins another ritual of food service. The host will offer their guest the best

food and comfort that they can afford, often denying themselves in deference

to the guest. Hospitality leans heavily on the necessity that an abundant table

should be set at all times. These foods are served in a traditional order; Olives,

nuts, raisins, salted chick peas, toasted pumpkin seeds are always on hand as

appetizers. The meal is then started with a pastry like baklava. Next trays of

meat pies, Bourke or kibbeh are served along with tabbouleh. The evening will

end with additional pastries, fruit and more coffee.

Asrooneah, (meaning hospitality in Arabic) Restaurant is in the heart of

the city; however, during the 1950’s Amman was just beginning to spread

out of the downtown area. Its location in the 2nd circle was then the edge of

town where modern houses were springing up in a style that reflected a break

from tradition. The interior space mirrors the original architecture of the

neighborhood, incorporating original elements from old houses and buildings

that once surrounded it to preserve its heritage and style. The beautifully

patterned gold tables nod to the platters that meals are served on in Amman,

giving the feeling of being at a family table. Beautifully patterned floor tiles re

purposed from old houses and airy brilliantly colored window treatments add

to the feeling of being in a traditional home. From the ceilings are artfully hand

crafted Turkish lanterns made by local artisans, and in the lounge large floor

pillows make for a relaxing atmosphere that will lend itself to an evening of great

food and conversation. This highlights the authenticity of Arab hospitality and

gastronomy at Asrooneah.gagagagggg ssttroononnoomymmymmyy aatt AAssrrrooooononeaeaaah..
