Water to Ice

At zero degrees water will freeze, Which is really rather nice. It's not called water any more: In fact you call it ice.

Liquid to a solid. Water to ice.Zero degrees. Isn't that nice? Finding this amazing? Then you'd be right! This is science don't you know!

One hundred degrees, Water will boil. It's really rather hot! It's not a fluid any more, I'll tell you what you've got.

It's changed from a liquid to a gas: Known as steam, well fancy that!A little drop of this could fill my hatThis is science don't you know!

The amazing thing about all of this Is you can do it in reverse.Heat the ice or cool the steam, you'll have what we had first.

Solid heats to liquid. Gas cools too.Turns back to water: now isn't that good?Have you listened carefully? Have you understood? This is Science don't you know! This Is Science don't you know! This is Science don't you know!

Wood and Metal Rap

(Sung)Woodblocks, if you’re tapping out a rhythm.Xylophone if you want to play a tune.

Castanets – let’s hear you click, click, clicking. Guiro for scraping out a groove.

(Rapped)If you’re looking for something made of wood.Look in the kitchen – that’ll be good. There’s a wooden spoon and a wooden chairAnd a great big table over there.

Carved by hand from a fallen tree, Cut and chiselled and smoothed, you’ll see.If you’re looking for something made of wood.Look in the kitchen – that’ll be good.

(Sung)Triangle if you’re tapping out a rhythm. Glockenspiel if you want to play a tune.

Indian Bells – let’s hear you ring, ring, ringing. Cabasa for scraping out a groove.

(Rapped)

If it’s made of metal, it’s shiny and cool,Like a knife and fork and garden tool.There’s paper clips and drawing pins, Cola cans and baked bean tins;

There’s springs in your bed, there’s a roof of a car:Without these things we don’t get far.If it’s made of metal, it’s shiny and cool,Like a knife and fork or garden tool.

(Sung)Woodblocks, if you’re tapping out a rhythm.Xylophone if you want to play a tune.

Castanets – let’s hear you click, click, clicking. Guiro for scraping out a groove.

(Sung)Triangle if you’re tapping out a rhythm. Glockenspiel if you want to play a tune.

Indian Bells – let’s hear you ring, ring, ringing. Cabasa for scraping out a groove.

Pick it up!

Pick it up, pick it up, pick it up, up up!Don’t throw it in the bin, bin, bin!Pick it up, pick it up, pick it up, up up!Recycling will always win!Pick it up, pick it up, pick it up, up up!Don’t throw it in the bin, bin, bin!Pick it up, pick it up, pick it up, up up!Recycling will always win!

Recycle, recycle, recycle now! There’s nothing to it, if you just know how.Recycle, recycle, recycle now! There’s nothing to it, if you just know how.

(Repeat wholesong)

Bumpy, shiny, rough or smooth?

Look up, look down, Look all aroundAnd tell me what you see.All around materials:Tell me how they feel.

Are…. they….Bumpy, shiny, rough or smooth,Crinkly, spiky or dull? Are they fuzzy, fluffy, sharp or hard,Prickly, furry or soft?

Are they bumpy, shiny,Rough or smooth?Crinkly, spiky or dull? Are they fuzzy fluffy,Sharp or hard?Prickly, furry or soft?

(Repeat song 3 times)
