KWI - Capture Jet Canopy with Water Wash
KWI Capture Jet Canopy with Water Wash
The KWI kitchen ventilation canopy is a water-wash
canopy for the exhaust of contaminated air released
by the cooking process and removal of the excess
heat emitted by the cooking appliances.
The highly efficient KWI canopy uses Halton Capture
Jet™ technology, which allows the canopy to operate
with up to 30% lower exhaust airflow rates than
traditional hoods do.
The KWI kitchen canopy automatically washes down
the grease filters without the need for removal of the
filters from the canopy. The washing cycle is fully
automatic and programmable for use in different
operating conditions. The washing process can be
manually overridden, when required.
• Automatic periodic cleaning of the exhaust plenum
and KSA grease filters
• Minimal maintenance requirements, reducing the
work load for personnel cleaning the filters
• High level of hygiene facilitated
• Prevention of the build-up of grease deposits, which
pose a serious fire hazard
• Halton Capture Jet™ technology, reducing
the required exhaust airflow rate and improving the
capture and containment efficiencies of the canopy,
while reducing energy use
• Individually adjustable personal supply air
nozzles located within the front supply plenum, to
compensate for the effects of the radiant heat
emitted by the cooking equipment
• High-efficiency grease filtration using *UL - and
**NSF-classified Halton KSA multi-cyclone filters -
removal of up to 95% of particles with a size of 8
microns or above
• Supplied as standard with lighting, balancing
dampers for both supply and exhaust air and T.A.B.™
testing and balancing taps, which allow accurate and
effective balancing of airflows, and efficient
commissioning
• Stainless steel (AISI 304), welded construction

KWI - Capture Jet Canopy with Water Wash
Construction
The KWI canopy comprises a Capture Jet™ air supply
module, a light fitting, adjustment dampers, airflow
measurement taps and KSA grease filters.
The exposed parts of the canopy are manufactured
from polished stainless steel (AISI 304) and the
unexposed parts from galvanised steel.
The joints on the lower edge of the canopy are fully
welded.
A collection tray or a drain tap is fitted into the grease
drain channel in order to enable removal of the grease
and dirt extracted by the KSA multi-cyclone filters.
The Capture Jet™ supply plenum is thermally
insulated through the use of non-fibre-releasing
material to prevent water from condensing on the
inner face above the cooking equipment.

The kitchen canopy above the cooking appliances
contains the rising warm air and contaminants (1).
The capture air jets (2) direct the contaminated air
toward the KSA grease filters (3), where grease
particles and other impurities are separated from the
exhaust air using the cyclone separation principle.
The water and detergent mixture (4) is sprayed onto
the filters during the washing cycle in order to remove
the contaminants.
The waste from the washing cycle is drained from the
canopy via the drain tap connection (5).
The detergent and water are mixed before application
within a separate wall-mounted control cabinet (6).
Individual supply air nozzles (7) are adjustable. They
can be used to increase air velocities in the work area
near the cooking equipment in order to compensate
for the effects of radiant heat emitted by the cooking
equipment.
