Executive Leadership Program (ELP)

• Intensive, competency-based, year-long program

• Ensure continuity of leadership and increase talent pool of high potential employees

• Designed for mid-level employees who demonstrate a great willingness to enhance skills and potential for growth in leadership

ELP Leadership Competencies

• Self-management

ELP Includes:

• Week-long, offsite leadership overview focusing on assessments (including 360 feedback), skill-building, coaching, and goal setting (individual development plans)

• Two to three day sessions once a month for 10 months

• Assigned readings, webinars

• Individual coaching sessions

ELP Includes:

• Mentoring

• Group Projects

• DMV-related activities (legislative sessions, tours of different divisions, committee meetings, etc.)

• 2nd 360 feedback session at the end of the ELP year

Management Development Program (MDP) designed to:

• Increase management effectiveness in developing employees

• Ensure compliance with state and federal laws

• Create consistency across VA DMV with common management practices

Components of MDP

• Core curriculum - must complete all twelve classes

• Electives – must complete a minimum of four classes

• MDP Roundtables – quarterly sessions designed for discussion of leadership topics, open to current participants and MDP graduates

Professional Development Program (PDP)

Purpose:

To provide employees at all levels with the opportunity to gain skills and knowledge to

enhance performance in their current positions as well as preparing them for future positions

with DMV

PDP

• Twenty-six informative and highly interactive classes to choose from

• Classes range from half day to two days

• Professional skills and computer skills

• Receive Certificate of Achievement with completion of 35 hours

• Certificate of High Honors awarded with completion of 100 hours or more
