Goodbye p.2-3

How to Greet People:

- Good morning=Buenos días. - Good afternoon=Buenas tardes. - Goodnight=Buenas noches.

- Hello/Hi= Hola. - How are you?=¿Cómo estás? - How's it going?= ¿Qué tal?

- What's happening?= ¿Qué pasa? ¿Cómo esta?

How to Respond to "¿Cómo estás o ¿Cómo está?:

- Ok= Regular/ así así - Bad. And you?=Mal. ¿Y tú/usted? - So-so. And you?= Más

-Well. Bien. o menos. ¿Y tú/usted?

- Very well. And you? Muy bien.

* These are familiar phrases and are

used with:

- a person your own age

- a relative

- a person you call by his or her

* These are formal phrases used with:

- a person you don't know

- someone older

- a person whom you want to show

respect

- Goodbye = Adiós. -See you later = Hasta luego. -See you tomorrow= Hasta mañana.

-Goodnight = Buenas noches. Until never = Hasta la vista. Until Monday = Friday-Hasta el lunes/

How to Introduce Yourself and Others:

To introduce yourself you should say,

"Hola. Me llamo _____. ¿Y tú? ¿Cómo te llamas?" ¿Y usted? ¿Cómo se llama?"

* The phrase above translates to, "Hi. My name is _____. And you? What is your name?"

The person would then respond,

"Me llamo _____." (This means "My name is _____.")

You would then say,

"Encantado(a), _____." (This means "Pleased to meet you, _____.")

The person would then say,

"Igualmente." (This means "Same here/Likewise.") “El gusto es mío.” (The pleasure is mine.)

How to Introduce Others:

To introduce others you should say:

-"Te presento a _____." (This means "I present to you _____.")

-"Le presento a _____." (This means "I introduce to you _____.")

The person would then respond:

-"Encantado(a), _____." (This means "Pleased to meet you.")

-"Mucho gusto." (This means "Nice to meet you.")

You would then say:

-"Igualmente." (This means "Same here/Likewise.")

-"El gusto es mío." (This means "The pleasure is mine.")

To ask where someone is from you would say:

¿De dónde eres/es?“ (eres=tú es=usted)

(This means, "Where are you from?")

They would then respond,

(This means, "I'm from _____.")

To ask how to spell someone's name you

should say:

-"¿Como se escribe (tu nombre)?"

(This means, "How do you spell your

name?")

To say how to spell your name you should

say:

"Se escribe _________."

(This means, "It is written ______" or "It is

spelled ______.")

To ask what someone's phone number is,

you should say:

"¿Cuál es tu/su número de teléfono?"

(This means, "What is your phone number?")

You would then say:

-"Mi número de teléfono es ______."

(This means, "My phone number is ______.")

(This means, "It is ______.")

should say,
