Environmental Evils - one of the prominent

Food scraps range from 10% to 20% of household waste, and are a problematic component of

municipal waste, creating public health, sanitation and environmental problems at each step,

beginning with internal storage and followed by truck-based collection. Same holds true for plastic

scraps.

“Food scraps decompose and generate methane gas, which is a highly potent greenhouse gas, initially 21 times more

potent than carbon dioxide, and after many years breaking down to carbon dioxide and water.”

Reacting to evilsThe premise behind the proper use of disposal is to

effectively regard food scraps as liquid, and utilize existing infrastructure (underground sewers and

wastewater treatment plants) for its management.

Modern recycling plants are effective at processing inorganic wastes into non –consumable plastic products

Yet, all of this comes from millions of our homes and

commercial establishments.

Causing harm to the environment and that is ‘we’ at the end of the day.

Be it effects of cancer, lung disorders, liver problems,

whatever …

Can be done Together -Segregating

Let us all come together & do it together. “Lets segregate the wet & the dry waste at our homes & offices by

dumping in 2 separate dust bins.”

Organic (wet) rotting vegetables, food leftovers, meat and bones, etc,.

Inorganic (dry) plastic, paper, glass, cloth, fibre, etc,.

In the process of doing it together________________________________________________________

Organic wastes can be used as manure and can be used for plants in our homes.

Lets reduce the organic wastes from home itself. ___________________________________________

like buckets, mugs, construction material, dust bins etc,.Lets reduce the new entry of plastic into the world.

Appealing the Civic Authorities

But civic authorities alone may not tackle the volume of material discarded; the problem of garbage disposal has

assumed such proportions.

“Approvals & implementations are complex & time consuming”

As we all do it, we can appeal civic authorities to come up with two different carriers to dump at two separate

yards in the course of time.
