How to use LibLiveCD- Dspace

Introduction

DSpace is a platform that allows you to capture items in any format – in text, video, audio, and data. It distributes it over the web. It indexes your work, so users can search and retrieve your items. It preserves your digital work over the long term

Some example benefits: Getting your research results out quickly, to a worldwide audience Reaching a worldwide audience through exposure to search

engines such as Google Storing reusable teaching materials that you can use with course

management systems Archiving and distributing material you would currently put on your

personal website Storing examples of students’ projects (with the students’

permission) Showcasing students’ theses (again with permission) Keeping track of your own publications/bibliography

What are the benefits of using DSpace?

DSpace can be used to store any type of digital medium. Examples include: Journal papers Data sets Electronic theses Reports Conference posters Videos Images

Ubuntu LibliveCD with minimal Gnome-Desktop, pre-configured

1)DSpace,

2)Koha Library Management Software

First you insert the Live DVD in your computer DVD Drive & Restart

(Make sure that your first boot device is DVD/CD ROM)

After restart please continue press the Down Arrow key

If you want to change the BIOS setup please follow next step

Here Press the F2 or Del on Keyboard

Here Choose the Boot Option

Boot Device Priority : CD/DVD –ROM Drive

After the select Device Option then press F10 for Save & Exit Setup (Y & N)

After restart please continue press the Down Arrow key

Please choose your installation Language (eg. English)

Press Enter

Try LibLiveCD without Installing on your Harddisk

For Installing LibLiveCD

Press Enter

Ubuntu 10.04 LTS (Long Term Support)

Select here English Language

Click on Forward Button

Setting up the Clock

Click on Forward Button

Select the Region : India & Time Zone : India Time

Click on Forward Button

Keyboard layout (Select USA)

Click on Forward Button

Prepare disk space for Partition/Dual boot (Install them side by side)

Click on Forward Button

Write previous changes to disk and continue (Read Carefully)

You want Erase & use the entire disk (Click here)

Click on Forward Button

Resizing Partition

Click on Forward Button

Please create here Username & Password

Click on Forward Button

Migrate Documents & Settings

Click on Forward Button

Ready to Install

Click on Install Button

Click on Restart Now

Click On Your Desktop

Type here password

Click on Log in

Click On Mozilla Firefox

This is your Mozilla Firefox Homepage

Click on Dspace Classic Interface (http://localhost/jspui)

This is Dspace Jspui Screen

Click on Dspace Manakin Interface (http://localhost/xmlui)

This is Dspace Manakin Screen

Here click on My Dspace for Login

Dsapace Admin : dspace@localhost & Password : library

Type here e-mail address & Password

Click on Log In

Click on Home

Click on Administer (Customize Top News and Sidebar News)

Click on Edit News

Click on Top News

Edit Here

Write here your Institute & College name

Click on Save

Click on Sidebar News

Edit Here

Write here your Institute & College name

Click on Save

Here click on Communities/Collection

Click on Home

Check your Top News

Check your Sidebar News

Click on My Dspace

Type here e-mail address & Password (Click on Log in)

After than click on home ( Check your Logged in)

Click on Home

Click on Communities & Collections

Create Top-Level Community

Write the name of community

Click on create

Please check your community & Click

Create Sub-Community

Be sure you are in main community & other than Create Sub- Community

Write the name of Sub-Community

Click on Create

Check your Sub-Community & Click

Create the collection in Sub community

Be sure you are in Sub-Community & after that click on Create collection

Click on next

Write here your collection name

Click on next

Click on next

Click here Update

Click on collection

Click on Submit to This Collection

If you want to add more than one file then select the third option Click on next

Write here your file details (Author, Title, File Type, language etc.)

Click on next

Write here Keywords, Abstract & Description

Click on next

Browse the specific file (ppt, pdf, jpg, doc, mp4 ) & upload it to your collection

Select the specific file

Click on next

Check your file details & after that click on next

Please verify the details of submission & click on next

Click here I Grant the License

Submission Complete (Go to My Dspace)

How to see the Uploaded file (Click on)

Click on Sub-Communities

Click on Collections

Click on Title

Click on Title

Click on Title

Click on View/Open

Have a look at the uploaded file

Search the Contents of your Repository (eg. Dspace) & Click on Go

Click on Title

Click on View/Open
