Lifestyle diseases affecting women• They are non communicable diseases that occur
as a result of changes in one’s lifestyle.

• Causes• Habits such as poor eating, inactivity or smoking• Factors that we cannot control such as age, gender and heredity

Diabetes • Affects 26 million people in USA. In Kenya, the rates are
also increasing. • This is where the pancreas insulin production is not
enough to clear the glucose from the blood stream (type II diabetes) or when born, the pancreas does not function (type I diabetes)
• Gestational diabetes- high blood sugar levels during pregnancy
• Pre-diabetes (metabolic syndrome) – high blood sugar levels but not having diabetes due to bad eating habits

– Benign tumors – non-cancerous– Malignant tumors – cancerous
