Dear Esplanade Residents, We would like to wish you a warm welcome and thank you for choosing to become part of our community! As you check out the upcoming events for the month, please make sure to RSVP so that proper accommodations can be made. We encourage your participation in our resident lifestyle events so you have the opportunity to meet and mingle with your fellow neighbors. We have some great activities coming up this month and hope to see you there!
Our Bahama Bar began hosting many new events last month, such as the Music by the Green every Friday night! We love to see the community out there having a great time. If you haven’t had a chance to attend, ask your Lifestyle team about the next one and we hope to see you there!
Be on the lookout for our new Adventure Club launching this month! More information will be sent via email from your Lifestyle Team.
Our Amenity Center will host many interest groups, activity club meetings, and social events. The Lifestyle Team will help facilitate meetings and assist in the development and promotion of activities developed by the clubs. Any resident wishing to develop an interest group or club should contact the Lifestyle Team to receive information and an application. All clubs are self-supported and must be open to all residents in the community.
The Esplanade Golf & Country Club has a website that can be found by visiting www.esplanadelwr.com. If you have trouble logging into the webpage or are a first-time user, please contact the Amenity Center and we will set you up. Once logged in, you can access resident-only documents, make tee times for golf, request a massage, and register online for activities, events, and group fitness classes.
Throughout the year Esplanade residents can enjoy up to six Signature Events a year. Our next scheduled Signature Event, Diamonds & Denim, is right around the corner and slated for Saturday, September 17th. It’s a Country/Western theme and all guests are encouraged to dust off their cowboy hats, wear their denim and don’t forget to add some sparkle!
Regards,
Gary Hamill & your Esplanade Lifestyle Team
September 2016 Lifestyle Guide
General Manager
Dear Residents,
Your patience last month while we periodically went onto the cart paths after the heaviest rains was greatly
appreciated. August was a true test of the course drainage and I am ecstatic to announce that we fared better
than most in the area. In some cases we were off the paths when area courses were actually closed because of
the rain. I would also like to take the opportunity to thank Rob Buege and his maintenance team for the
wonderful job they have done keeping our great course in shape during the onslaught of rain.
The summer continues to fly by and season is just around the corner. We are all busy making last minute
preparations in gearing up for the season and getting ready for the influx of new and returning members at the
club.
Florida is a wonderful place to live, but remember that we share it with many animals and reptiles some of
which may pose a threat. Please be aware of your surroundings at all times. It is best to let nature be and not
to confront or feed any of these animals.
Please remember my door is always open and I look forward to seeing you all around the club soon.
Warm Regards,
Brad Compton
General Manager

Best Doubles Tips / Part II
1) ALWAYS HAVE A TARGET IN MIND BEFORE YOU HIT YOUR VOLLEY OR OVERHEAD.
Choose a target that buys you some leeway if you’re tight or miss hit (i.e., don’t aim for 2 inches from the baseline). Aim for wide boundaries of service line, or opposing net player’s feet, etc.
2) MOVE WITH YOUR PARTNER AND COVER THE MIDDLE!
Move with your partner (L and R, up and back–think of “windshield wipers” moving as a unit) and follow the ball. If your partner (or opposing player) is pulled out wide, one of you should be touching the center line of the court with one foot to be covering the middle. There’s only one exception to moving like windshield wipers: if you hit the ball to the middle of the opposing court, you and your partner should move in slightly towards each other to cover the middle.
3) COMMUNICATE, COMMUNICATE, COMMUNICATE–DURING AND BETWEEN EVERY POINT!
Talk to each other during every point (You! Me! Go! Stay! etc). And communicate between every point, whether verbally or just physically: whether you talk strategy about the next point, tell your partner “way to go”, or simply give each other a high-five, you’re connecting– a key ingredient to sustained success in the match.
4) THE NET PLAYER SHOULD SIGNAL EVERY TIME BEFORE YOUR PARTNER SERVES (before the 2nd serve) — Closed fist = “stay” — Open hand = “poach/switch” — (From T-formation) Pinky pointed down = “I’ll move L after you serve” — (From T-formation) Index finger pointed R = “I’ll move R after you serve”
5) DURING MATCH WARM-UPS, ASK THE OPPONENT YOU’RE WARMING UP WITH TO FEED YOU SOME OVERHEADS.
This will both give you time to loosen up your shoulder AND will send a signal to the opposing team that you know what you’re doing.

Dear Residents,
As many of you, I was glued to the TV last month
watching Michael Phelps, the Women’s Gymnastics Team, Olympic
Golf Team, and the rest of the Rio Olympic Athletes carry the spirit
of the games with them. The dignity, patriotism, and pride every
athlete carries is a beautiful thing to witness. It is the closest
resemblance to the daily life of a golfer that I have seen in a long
time. There is something unique and special about this wonderful
game that incorporates all of these great qualities and keeps us
engaged and coming back for more each day. The power is within
you, and only you to perform at your best and carry yourself with
the same dignity as our Rio Olympians have.
“Unlike many sports, golf is played, for the most part, without the
supervision of a referee or umpire. The game relies on the
integrity of the individual to show consideration for other players
and to abide by the Rules. All players should conduct themselves
in a disciplined manner, demonstrating courtesy and
sportsmanship at all times, irrespective of how competitive they
may be. This is the spirit of the game of golf.”

As well as this it has partnerships with: FIFA World Cup Soccer, Formula 1, PGA Tour, NBA as well as others. As well as day to day demonstrations of how Techno Gym can help you we will be hosting a seminar all about how you can get the best benefits of this equipment.
WELLNESS PROGRAM Many of you are already part of the Esplanade Wellness program that allows you to take any or all of our instructor lead classes including Yoga, Pilates, Aqua Zumba, Tai Chi any many more. The cost is as little as $0.75 per day for a household membership or $0.62 per day for an individual. Stop by and ask any of our staff members how you can get started today and enjoy improving your quality of life while having lots of fun at the same time. *This cost is an approximate cost based on a 12-month membership. I look forward to the future of the Wellness center with the goal of keeping it fresh, fun and informative and at the same time making it non intimidating and enjoyable while you do your daily exercise routine.
