CLASSICAL KICKS ENSEMBLE
LIVE SHOW
Lizzie Ball Violin/Vocals/Creative Director
This is a flexi ensemble much like the Nash and similar where our special guests are all part of the wider CK family, so depending on the budget and booking we are able to adapt how many the ensemble will be. The minimum players are 3, the maximum is 8. These performers can include (depending on availability)
Milos Milivojevic (accordion), Gabriella Swallow (cello), Morgan Szymanski (guitar) James Turner (percussion) Una Palliser (violin/vocals), Richard Harwood (cello) Emma Smith (bass), Martynas Levickis (accordion), James Pearson (piano), Dave Maric (piano), Meghan Cassidy
(viola), Pedro Segundo (percussion) and many more
“[Lizzie Ball] set the place on fire with one of her solos” San Francisco Chronicle
Classical Kicks LIVE is comprised of a primarily classical music programme, flavoured with pieces of jazz, world, folk, bluegrass and rock, performed by world class musicians who are highly versatile in their skills as both classical and improvising musicians. Our musical arrangements are inspiring, uplifting and entertaining. If you love classical music but also enjoy other styles, performed to the highest quality within a down to earth approach, then this is for you. Lizzie’s Ball's creation ‘Classical Kicks’ exists as a performance residency upstairs at Ronnie Scott's (which has sold out every show since 2012), as well as a live touring band performing a variety of curated
shows, a young person’s workshop show and a record label. Lizzie created Classical Kicks in order to have the most serious fun possible with classical music programming and with the musicians who shared her versatility, imbibing her down-to-earth, vibrant and high quality approach. Aside from their regular concerts at Ronnie Scott’s, Lizzie has performed various versions of this touring show with her Classical Kicks band for a 6-concert series at St James Theatre Studio in London and Crazy Coqs in Brasserie Zedel, on stage at Bestival with DJ and Bestival Founder Rob da Bank, at the Venice JW
Marriott opening launch weekend, as well as headlining Lost in the Latin Square Festival 2015 in Vilnius with accordion star Martynas Levickis, to an audience of over 5,000. An a solo artist, Lizzie has gained high international visibility and press acclaim with her collaborations with Nigel Kennedy (as leader of his Orchestra of Life from 2010 to present), Jeff Beck (as a featured frontline member of his band between 2013-14), Brian Wilson (as a guest vocalist with his band on US-wide tour in 2013), as well as Grammy-nominated classical choir New York Polyphony and the James Pearson Trio. Classical Kicks also hosted its very first festival in Lizzie’s home turf in 2016 - the beautiful village of Hathersage in the Peak District. The event was sponsored by Investec and Derbyshire County Council, which was a complete sellout. We then went on to co-host a festival headline slot in Vilnius with acclaimed accordion player and Classical Kicks regular collaborator Martynas Levickis, to an audience of over 3,000.

Huffington Post

Joyce Hytner OBE
“Classical music [has] traditionally been written for large concert halls. As much as I enjoy the grand atmosphere, sometimes I just want to relax and enjoy music for what it is – without the frills and
formalities. [Classical Kicks] does just that.” Mary Grace Nguyen, Fringe Opera
