“PART C”&

COMPLETION OF

CAMBRIDGE

SAINT BENET’S (CONTRACTION OF BENEDICT)

St Bene't's is a Church of England Parish church in the center of Cambridge. Parts of the church, most notably the tower, are Anglo-

Saxon, and it is the oldest church in Cambridgeshire and the oldest building in Cambridge.

St Bene't's Anglo-Saxon tower was "most probably" built between AD 1000–1050. The tower has Anglo-Saxon

architecture and construction.

Inside the church the 11th-century arch supporting the tower is the most notable

feature. Parts of the north and south walls of

the chancel and the nave walls

are Anglo-Saxon.ALL OF THIS TO

SAY, THIS TOWER IS

RIGHT AT 1000 YEARS OLD THIS YEAR. (2015-1015 =

1000)

GOLLY GEE WHIZ!

DNATHE OLD EAGLE PUB & LIVERY STABLE WAS WHERE THE TWO GREAT NOBEL SCIENTISTS, FRANCIS CRICK & JAMES

WATSON, ANNOUNCED TO THE WORLD IN 1953 THAT THEY HAD CONFIRMED THEIR

DISCOVERY OF “DNA CHAIN OF LIFE.”

THE CORPUS CLOCKThe Corpus Clock is a large sculptural clock at street level on the outside

of the JOHN C. TAYLOR LIBRARY AT CORPUS CHRISTI COLLEGE. (Taylor is Alumni of College)

It was officially unveiled to the public on 19 September 2008 by Cambridge physicist Stephen Hawking. (Yes, The one in a Wheel Chair)

The clock was one of TIME’S Best Inventions of 2008. 88888888888888888888

IT HAS A GRASSHOPPER MOVEMENT. HENCE “THE LARGE GRASSHOPPER EATING TIME UP.”

OUR FRIEND, SIMON, WAS VERY EXCITED OVER THE STRIKING OF THIS CLOCK.

HE SHOULD BE. MR TAYLOR INVESTED WELL OVER A

MILLION £ FOR THIS CLOCK. IT IS THE ONLY ONE IN THE WORLD LIKE THIS. IT IS A FULL MECHANICAL... NO

COMPUTERS OR ELECTRICAL MECHANISMS, EXCEPT FOR A

MOTOR WHICH WILL WIND THE CLOCK EVERY 24 HRS.

THE STRIKING SOUND IS: “CHAINS RATTLING.”

THERE ARE DIFFERENT “THINGS”

IN CAMBRIDGE

.

AS PROMISED IN PART A IT IS

“PUNTING” TIME...A punt is a flat-bottomed boat with a square-cut bow, designed for

use in small rivers or other shallow water. Punting refers to boating in a punt. The punter generally propels the punt by pushing against

the river bed with a pole..

Punts were originally built as cargo boats or platforms for duck hunting or fishing, but in modern times their use is almost

exclusively confined to pleasure trips with passengers.

PUNTING, ON THE RIVER CAM, IS ONE OF THE TOP 25 THINGS

A PERSON SHOULD DO BEFORE THEY DIE.. WELL, WE HAVE THAT ONE BEHIND US .....

THERE ARE 12 OF US IN THIS ONE PUNT. ALL FROM THE TOUR...WE

ARE GOING UNDER THE “MATH BRIDGE.” SEE ALL THE

ANGLES?

MANY OF THE DIFFERENT COLLEGES CAN BE SEEN

FROM THE RIVER CAM.

YES, THIS IS A TOURIST TRAP. BUT IT IS A FUN TRAP. SOME OF THESE KIDS THAT “POLE” ARE

KIDS IN A COLLEGE TRYING TO EARN MONEY. THIS WAS A FUN EXPERIENCE, TO DO AGAIN...

ALL STOPPED, FOR THIS FAMILY OF

“GREYLAG GEESE,” HOW EXCITING.

THIS IS MATT, OUR “POLE MAN.” YES, HE IS A STUDENT IN SOME

COLLEGE.. GREAT FUN

MUCH EXCITEMENT: A BABY GIRL HAS

BEEN BORN! THIS NATION IS REALLY INTERESTED.. WE

WILL SEE AND POST MORE AS WE

GET THE NEWS.. YEA FOR THE

“BABY PRINCESS.”

THINGS SURE WON’T BE THE SAME FOR THE

BABY KING GEORGE..

HOW EXCITING.LIFE IS GOOD!

LOVE IS BETTER!
